Death rates from breast cancer are 30% higher in women drinking just one daily drink.

Jesus christ, you must really work hard at being so ignorant.

seeing someone stumbling about when they're drunk does not qualify you to know what it actually feels like (i.e. in your head) to be drunk.... wouldn't you agree?

Yes, but it wouldn't prevent me from recognising they are disruptive to society.

You don't have to have tried drugs to have a say in drugs policy. You just have to be affected by the outcome one way or another.

true you don't need to have experienced to see that but i was drawing on the point cuchulainn was making about not needing drugs to get high when he'd never excperienced the actual high drugs can give you.

There is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that drink causes more death, pain and suffering amongst its users than any illegal drug. It doesn't take any effort at all to prove that - just go to www.statistics.gov.uk and look up the cause of death figures.

There is absolutley no doubt that Alcohol causes more damage to innocent third parties than tobacco, in terms of homes wrecked, lives lost through drink driving, street violence and so on.

Your entire position on this debate has been that your personal choice of drug is morally acceptable and that everyone else should be damned. It is not based around any logic except protecting yourself from the truth.

from that very informative site "The alcohol*-related death rate in the UK increased from 6.9 per 100,000 population in 1991 to 12.9 in 2005"

"The number of deaths involving heroin or morphine rose in 2004, to 744 deaths, breaking the decline seen in the previous three years from the highest recorded number of 926 deaths in 2000. The number of deaths involving methadone and cocaine also increased to 200 deaths and 147 deaths respectively. This was the highest number of deaths where cocaine was mentioned since 1993. Deaths involving paracetamol and its compounds decreased to 453. This is the lowest number since 1993.

The total number of deaths related to drug misuse rose for the first time since 2000, to 1,427. Deaths related to drug misuse made up 55 per cent of all deaths related to drug poisoning in 2004."

correct my figures if i'm wrong but using those i'm working out that:

1,427 drug deaths = around 0.25 deaths per 10,000 (using a UK population of 60 million)

compared to 12.9 per 10,000 for drink.....

again correct me if i'm wrong but that works out at just under 52 times the amount of people dying from drink than drug use....

we're not turning this into a drug consumption pissing match i'm pointing out that you can't get that level of thinking or even that kind of thinking that mushrooms or other mind altering drugs give you whilst sober.
