I am going to use the USA right now being that it is the center of controversy at this moment in time. If you were the head of the USA, what would you do to fight terrorism? This isn't meant to be sarcastic, but a genuine question. What are your ideas as to the best way to handle the situation at hand?

First of all, i'd stop investing millions into israels "defense" army. Then I'd keep my nose out of countries where it doesn't belong

First off, I would cease all financial support of Israel. They would get absolutely zilch for federal support. Maybe issue a public apology to the world for supporting them and the creation of their state. Then I'd pursue the terrorists as though it were a matter of law enforcement. If the countries harboring them didn't want to extradite, I'd go in and get them by force. Everyone who had a hand in 9/11 would be brought to trial, whether their country was a friend of the US or not. Then I'd cut off all financial support for the oil industry. Yeah, it'd throw the economy into chaos, but we really shouldn't have started propping up industry in the first place. New technologies would be developed to replace oil, and the oil kings of the mideast would lose their funding.

On the homefront, I'd disband all homeland security offices and charge all applicable members with Bill Of Rights violations. I'd put an end to TSA, and force the FAA to start arming pilots. Also, I'd tell them to follow their own regulation Title 14, Chapter 1, Section 108.11 and set down some real requirements for letting passengers carry concealed weapons (how come we never worry about Airmarshals breaching the plane's skin with their weapons, or just void the whole regulation altogether.

Do you think that one thing alone will stop terrorism? If not, what are your thoughts on other things the US can do to fight terrorism?

The worlds a mess, other countries are taking over other countries, businesses , properties, cultures, this is causing bad feeling.

So I would start again, send everyone back to their own countries , USA businesses run in and from US, Uk businesses run in and from UK, same goes for other foreign tradings etc all stops and people start relying on their own country to build themselves out of their problems. If they cant then there should be world fund donation pools to help them out of the situation but countries should not go into other countries as this can change cultures forever , this then causes bad resentment feelings and war can begin. Its much easier said than done.

shit Dawn that would literally destroy millions of trillions of dollars

a few points that folk have brought up. The Arab world actually has much less control and we consume much less from them than we did 30 years ago. They're nowhere near asd powerful as they used to be.

Saying that. the very 1st thing I would do is have nothign to do with Israel, let it fend for itself. I'm pretty sure it's tactics would change rapidly when it doesn't have the US standing behind it and apologise to the Arab world.

I wouldn't withdraw troops from anywhere. I genuinely believe that there are troops where they are needed.

As for terrorism... how exactly do you deal with an invisible enemy? That's somethign alot of critics of Bush and Blair seem to forget. This isn't a tiny geographical area like Ulster or the south of Spain, This is the whole world we're talkign about and these people have no solid aims and objectives other than causing as much ahrm and destruction as possible and ultimately, the destruction of the west and our way of life.

I would be alot more ruthless with my treatment of people who are caught and we know they had shit going on. i'm, not talking about folk hitting keywords in text messagesor emails. im talkign people we know are implicated in action or helping them and THEY WOULD be made an example of.

Nothing will stop a man doing something more effectively than putting the fear of God in him.

I think we need to cut ties with Saudi Arabia. They are not our friend. They are a "business" friend. We buy their oil, they take our money. They are teaching their children in shcool to hate all infidels. These children are the ones who grow up to become extremists. Today we saw yet again, what this extremists do to "infidels". They need to STOP funding terrorism period. They have to stop standing in the way of what we are trying to get done in Iraq.

Okay, here is something to backup the way I feel!
Why I feel Saudi Arabia is not our "friend"...
http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/...nts/index.html

A snippet from the article:

"The history of providing support for the madrassas -- in which children are taught to hate those who do not share their common beliefs and that it is acceptable to attack, in violent forms rather than in discourses, differences in philosophies, culture and religion -- has been a principle source of worldwide unrest and support of elements hostile to Western ideas and civilization," Ben-Veniste.

"We are hopeful that now that the Saudis in particular have seen the results of these years of support of this kind of a movement, that they will now move to change what has been in place for so long."

You do realize what that comment sounds like, right? Effectively, you are saying it is ok for the US to go around and invade countries as it pleases and if anybody speaks up we just bully them until they give up. Nice method and makes us even worse than the terrorists imo.

Also, I assume you do know who in this country has the biggest ties to Saudi Arabia and their royal family, right?

Spunk, if you don't know the reason we are in Iraq, I don't know what to tell you. I think we are there because we need to be there. Saddamn Hussien is an evil monster who needed to be taken out. I can't see how anyone can't see that. Look what he did to his own people! My GOD!
I BELIEVE he has/had WMD. We just don't know what he did with them. Yet. I think we will eventually find out where they went, and which country IS hiding them for him.

No, those were not my emotions talking. I don't know how you interpreted what I was saying. I was aiming that remark at the countries that do not act in a civilized manner and who harbor ther very terrorists that killed over 3,000 people on 9/11 and killed Daniel Pearl, Paul Johnson, and Nicholas Berg. Please don't apologize for me. If I feel I need to apologize, I will do it myself. :P
