Well I'm too knackered right now to look up much else, but I know I've heard of Mithras before, and of him having been born on December 25th, and many other parallels with christinaity. It mentions some on the Wikipedia page

yea dude read that earlier but im knackered and heading to bed!!!

but this is the god, and its mentioned there was worshiped in to the 5th centuarty AD, the time the Christian faith took over as the mainline faith, and if you read the jesus section, ill post it tomorrow, it states that jesus birth was moved into this date, by the romans to take its place, remember it doesnt mention in the bible jesus birth date

EDIT: I also want to state, if we really are going to go in mythology, to not take the greek, and roman mythology as two, they are infact the same mythology, romans realised that the greeks worship there ownh god under a different name e.g. Zesus, Jupitar. when they conqard them and took on many of there storys

gud night folks!

Funny, because Zeus was always depicted as the old man with the white beard right? Just ask people what their view of the christian god is

Surely it must be so clear to you Malachy that if other mythologies and their resulting religions can simply be conjured up, then Christianity is just another plagerized example of one such religion? What makes this incarnation of lies better than any other one, when they are all so similar?

I think even when you consider the astroloigcal basis of almost all these religions, how they interpreted the Sun, stars, seasons etc, that it is so clear and simple how these religions have arisen.
Mythology and allegories, and how these are mistakingly accepted as fact by the blind and brainwashed followers who read their 'holy books'. Like Butters said a few posts back, I think that it is often too far gone past the point for 'believers' to accept that all they have believed is based on some primitive astrological based belief system, one that is controlled and manipulated by various religious organizations for their own selfish needs.

And for another totally separate point, Extraterrestrial life is far more probable than the existence of a Supernatural God, as such life would still be within the confines of nature and thus explainable. The existence of God cannot be explained in nature. And 'he' cannot exists outside of nature, because that does not exist.

JBJ - I believe

"Sambora's face is a mask of joyous disbelief, as if previously unaware of his ability to play the instrument at all. Reaching the last fistful of notes, he does a fair impression of a man who is actually ejaculating into his jet black flares."

well youll forgive me for saying i believe this thread will go round in circles, the reason i dont believe that Chrisitanity is not another plagerized religion is becuase it is so different to any others that were around at the time nor have been since, the main reason is that Jesus was an actual man, who lived amoung us and preform mircles, and there is plenty of historical evidence that points to this and it is not as scarce as people lead you to believe, again i point to the wikipedia article on the historical jesus that i posted near to the start.

as i said the the video was extremly interesting, but there is massive holes that they are just saying are astrological, like saying the cross is nothing to do with the crucifix that jesus was put on, even though it was an death sentence, to pick out just one, as well as the facts they give about other gods not being true, it maybe true for other religions, but with a bit of research ull find it isnt true about chrisitianty.

if it was as simple cause of all it being based on astrological signs then the religion would have folded years ago, not continued to grow, these things are not new ideas, they have all been said and dismissed years ago, i dout ud ever here RD goign along that line of argument

again i say it was an interesting approach to take, but even i, im not the biggest catholic or religious person, tho my interest is growing because of these atheist debates, can see the gaping holes in the video.
