yup. the thing is, it's an edited version of the person.

That's the key i think - I liked Laura a lot, but then I fell in love with her in August when we had met for the 3rd time and had been with each other every day for 1 week. Sometimes I look back and think "perhaps I was in love with you before that" but it's probably fair to say that before that it was a sort of close friendship but nothing more at that stage.
Many people think they fall in love over the internet but I can't see how it is anything more than falling in love with an edited version of a person. No matter how honest you think you are being and how much you are being yourself, you're not when the other person can't see how you react to different situations, what your immediate emotions are and reactions are, rather than ones where you might have weeks, days, minutes, seconds to think about what emotion to display.
Sometimes I think also that on the internet falling in love is almost done for the sake of it - and by that I mean it is done with a knowledge that you can fall in love and get words of comfort etc without ever having to go through the difficult part of a relationship, and with a sort of knowing that you will never have to meet and go through that difficult part.
