Interview soon - question

Khakis and black button up, rolled up sleeves 'cause it was hot out - the manager commented that I dressed just like an employee there. Hoping I made a good impression, I'd like to think I came across well...responsible and smart...

I'm just hoping my occasional lack of words didn't hurt me. When I get flustered or put on the spot, I don't always think clearly or organize my thoughts or words perfectly. Didn't stutter or say anything out of line though, which is good.

I'll know if there's a next step by the end of next week. In the meantime, the thanks-for-the interview letter goes out in the mail post-haste.

Thank goodness I followed your advice and picked up the pants - they don't allow jeans there, that nearly was NOT a good move.

what are other folks work uniforms like?

need to wear dress trousers, a black shirt and black dressy shoes. very mafia and smart as **** IMO. plus it looks good if i wear my suit jacket to work too.

Came home from some shopping on Thursday or Friday of last week to a note on the answering machine, another of the stores I applied at wants an interview! I'll interview there on Thursday. I'd prefer the Family Video job over this place, but it'd be nice to have two (or more!) offers to choose from.

I'm really hoping the investment pays off. And as a side benefit, I think I've found a brand of pants that makes a 29x29, an extremely difficult feat.

Didn't make it past the first step. Monday came and went, no call. Wednesday I went in to rent a movie and overheard an employee telling someone on the phone that the manager would be doing callbacks Wednesday night or Friday. Friday comes, no call. Tonight (nobody called during the day) I go in to rent another movie (an excuse to get into the store) and asked the manager very politely what's up. Didn't make the cut. Moral of the story:Anyone says they'll call you back, for sure, whether or not you made it, during a certain time frame, 99% they're lying or too unorganized to do it.

Fortunately, there's open interviews next Friday. I'm gonna go in and do it all again, interview with the same person, etc. Tell 'em that I'm doing this again because I'm THIS dedicated.

I interviewed with the place that called two Thursdays ago - a used media store called Take 2. The interview was on this past Thursday. Not only did the manager have no idea who I was (they threw out all the applications after making the calls), they didn't even have my phone number anymore. They promised me a week's worth of work (for cash) as an evaluation period. The catch - they don't when they'll call. As the manager put it, "it could be next Monday, it could be in a few weeks, we have no idea." Another check mark for professionalism.

On the bright side, Sam Goody (a music store) is finally getting around to looking at their applications and last time I talked to him, the manager was fairly enthusiastic about me at least getting an interview. Also, I'm applying at two other Family Videos in the area on Monday.

I'm in sort of a catch 22. I want to take college classes this summer, but I can't until I know what my work schedule is. Nobody's going to hire me without a free schedule, so I can't sign up for any classes.

Sorry if I'm ranting...
