My days are vanishing without even making presence felt.

You shouldn't really start a sentence with "And" in which case maybe it would have been best to have said:

"... spelling and a *pat on the head*" ?

I give you a lifetime supply of thanks for that flower sticker though, and a few more things I shouldn't type here...
Contrary to popular belief, experienced writers can start a sentence with and. Pick up a copy of your favorite book, and you will see that a great deal of authors do this.
True Mouse And (note the start of the sentence here ) you can use and, or etc. to start a sentence, it's not good writing style to use it constantly, and even when it's not adviced to do in essays and formal writing, it can be used in them even sometimes for emphasis, as long as it's not used excessively.
Exactly!!

I was always taught that you couldn't use and at the beginning of a sentence. We used to get downgraded with essays. And that isn't fair!

LOL, years ago, we got those stickers too! This must be one of those universal things. The only subject where we got stickers (when I was 10 or so) was language and grammar.

I've also been taught not to start with "And", but if it suits, I say **** it . Tash is right, it's not fair to get downgraded by those things.

It is only bad when you do it throughout an entire essay. Otherwise, once in awhile I think it is necessary.
