iPod Question

How does one go about deleting their songs off their computer and Itunes without the files being deleted off the iPod when you automatically update it? We went through and deleted all 900 files off of Heather's computer and when we put the iPod in to add a few songs, it automatically updated her iPod and deleted all of her songs. Now she has to redownload everything. How does one go about doing it?

You can to disable the automatic update and upload / download all the songs manually. I think there's a checkbox under the iPod tab in the preferences menu to disable this option.
