I have an 80G iPod and LOVE IT. It's one of the greatest inventions ever. I have thousands of songs in the palm of my hand and am not even close to filling it up. I have a few TV shows on it too.

I love putting it on "shuffle" and not knowing what random song will pop up that I may not have listened to in 10 years or more.

Russ mate, you won't regret buying an ipod...of ANY size or capacity. Like I said in one of my previous posts though, I think to 'splash out' on a ipod depends HOW much you will get chance to use it. Mine goes everywhere with me...I'm lost without music on-the-go.

The iPod it self, in whatever format or storage size is a great peice of design.

iTunes is the reason I haven't got 1. The second Apple let you use something else (like the program I made for myself ) then I'll buy one.

You don't have to use iTunes to manage music on the iPod. You can use a program called Anapod Explorer. The only thing you need iTunes for is to download music in the Apple format (which I won't do either). I also put a different operating system on my iPod (Rockbox) http://www.rockbox.org so that I can load any format I want on it.

For a while I considered getting an MP3 player. Looked at the iRiverH10 for a while, but after reading various customer reviews, I decided that getting an iPOD was the better choice. Not because of any difference in functionality, but because they had better customer service and were more likely to take care of any problems that might crop up.

In the end, I decided against either. I didn't really need it.

I recieved my 160 GB Classic in the mail 2 days ago, though I didn't open it till yesterday. It's absolutely unbelievable! I have had my 60 GB Video now for almost two years and now it's my brothers. The 160 is a tad skinnier. My battery life is 3 times more with the new one. I was down to about 13 hours on my 60 GB video and with the 160 it's now 40. Another cool feature has to be the main menue. While the curser sits on the music text, on the right side it scrolls through album art and so on. It's well worth the money thus far. I'm hoping this one lasts me more than 2 years! On another note, I wasn't fond of the iPod touch simply because of the HD. Sure it's cool looking and the features are nice, but the limited capacity makes it bittersweet.

I only have an iPod shuffle (1GB) and I would like an mp3 player with more capacity. I still prefer the Creative Zen over the iPods though - they look way better.
