I know exactly what he is talking about - my husband had a Creative at first. There is a small <tick> in between tracks which is distracting on a live show.

I now have a video iPod but I removed the iPod operating system and loaded rockbox on it because I wanted to play flac files - it works perfectly.

Yes, I am. I listen to alot of live music and concept albums. Let's look at Pink Floyd, for example. On "Is There Anybody Out There," the live performance of The Wall, the song "Empty Space-What Shall We Do Now" which is basically one song is separated as 2 as far as how it was mastered to CD. Hearing that little gap smack in the middle of the song is like hearing a record player skip. It just throws off the whole build up as far as the listening experience goes. Even studio albums like Dark Side of the Moon are affected. "Time" segues into "Breathe (reprise.) You aren't supposed to hear the music cut out in between the two. It boils down to the fact that the gap is NOT a neccessary evil related to the medium, it's a failing on the manufacturers part.

Never notice it myself, probably because I only ever have my music on random so its not an issue but I'll concede your point is a valid one And secondly its good to know your hearing is good enough to get annoyed by it

Oh, it's been a Godsend! The thing with an Ipod is I can plug directly into it. I cannot plug into anything that is directly plugged into a wall socket due to the danger of power surge that could run up into the internal part of the implant. With the Ipod, I just substitute a 3.5 mm patch cord (the same anyone would use to plug their mp3 player into an Aux-in jack) from the headphone jack out into the processor's input jack and it basically sends the music directly to the implant. I basically turn my implant into the most expensive pair of noise cancelling headphones you could ever buy by putting into Aux input only mode. So while I'm running on the beach, I have a concert blasting into my head and hear nothing but that.
