I really never heard anyone saying jail is safest place lol(at least not if ur staying for long long time..)
Allwyn, please re-read what I have posted in here so far. I made clear that I think the money spent for lifelong prisoners would be way better used to help starving kids in Africa, to heal cancer or whatever. Allowing death penalty would not immediately terminate starvation in the world, but I do believe many small things can have effect on the grand scheme.
I tried to hint at you that there are people in this world who haven't done anything wrong but still don't have the most basic things to live, a roof, food etc. That is what I referred to when saying prison is safe.
Ok i didnt read them all. But do u really think if that crimal gets death sentse the money which spend suppose to spend on him to keep alive actually going for these poor ???. There is so many way they spend and waste money needlesly so why keeping one person alive will be such a big thing and i'm really sure that he need to work really hard at jail(at least in india).

Further on, I am not at all talking about certain conditions in India, the US or where ever. I am not happy with the death penalty system of the US for example. I was talking about basic ideas of punishments and that I think death penalty should be an option. It doesn't therefore exclude lifelong imprisonment, but I think there are clear cut and indisputable cases where a lifelong sentence is a waste of time, money and staff.
How much wast of time or money may be but life is life man, oif u cant give someone life then u have no right to take it away too...

And one more question, u guys think if once a killer always a killer???.

Geez, Allwyn, of course not! It won't be the exact same money. Nor would it probably be used against poverty at all. My point is that considering such problems like hunger and poverty, feeding a murderer is a shame.

You are right. Like I said legalization of death penalty won't solve the starvation problem as a causal effect. It is not THAT sort of a connection. But I do believe that a proper death penalty system could save a lot of money for "innocent" people or more important problems on this planet.

I can only repeat myself, I KNOW that this is the main problem, the moral one. We wouldn't discuss it here if there were none.
But I believe it can be handled as it is not like someone comes along and decides arbitrarily who's going to die. It would be manifested in consensual laws enforced by judges elected by the people, just like other laws.

No, I don't. But like I said there are cases where the committer's sickness and insanity, the cruelty of the deed etc. are so clear that any attempted justification of social rehabilitation or not giving the death sentence are beyond what I can grasp.
