IRC question

I have never been into IRC so much, but I need it now for a project and I didn't want to give out my real email address when I registered with

/msg nickserv REGISTER

so I gave a fake one and now when I try to register, it says I have an email waiting for me and won't let me give a proper email.

Can I cancel the other one and register?
