You do what you want, but it's translated wrong. Ask anyone who knews Hebrew. Many modern nations have made new translations of the bible, the English version however has never been renewed properly. I wonder why...

by 'english', do you mean the language? or the country?

The version used in the UK and some other English-speaking countries. The new, international English version of the bible has the correct translation.

Not sure what it all means but yup the eye for a eye thing is in there.
That is from Exodus which tells much of the laws that were set down for the judges, in other words, making the punishment fit the crime and preventing barbaric punishments that were used by some countries. It's not the standard for personal relationships.

See Matthew 5:38-48

5:38-39 speficifally, Jesus talking: You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for an eye, and tooth for a tooth' But I tell you, Do not resist and evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.

The rules set forth by the Jews as standards for the lives were so strict that no one could follow them and the old covenant changed with the advent of Jesus. They no longer had to WORK their way to forvigeness because He paid the price.

If you're looking for a Bible that has good references within it to help you understand, try to find a Life Application Bible. I use the New International Standard. As someone else said, the King James does have some wording errors that have been corrected with further study of the Hewbrew, Greek, and Aramaic languages.

The point was that his preaching is based on the Bible, too! Isn't it?

You said that the Bible flows very well for you and that it has nothing to do with the Bible cause you came up with this topic because of a preacher on tv. We agreed that his preaching is based on the Bible, too. Thus it HAS something to do with the Bible, where we were at the point of contradictions again and that the whole thing doesn't work - in my opinion. Clear now?
