Pelansky is a great director, who obviously you don't want to congratulate on his sex offences, but did have his family horrifically murdered, and had lived throught the gettoes in Poland.

Oh, I didn't consider that. I guess that makes his c okay then.

I detect sarcasm

However, I think you're just closing your mind to something. I'm not saying by any stretch of the imagination paedophilia is in any way ok, I work with children myself, and the thought of it makes me sick. However, he did have a tough life, has had a lot to deal with, and certainy had something to say through his own experiances in Poland, which made the film as powerful as it was. He's a director, which is art. Can't you apreciate art on face value, sure, his achievements will always be overshaddowed by this, but giving him the oscer was a powerful statement. Hollywood is overcrowded by buisness men, who want to make blockbuster. The fact that the achademy recognised a true artist, who is doing something special thorugh his work, is comendable.
If he was making a film about a child who is abused it woudl be completely different, the issue isn't suggested, or involved in the film in any way whatsoever. His art is coming through his tallent, and his experiances in Poland, and dealing with tragedy......
