Default ''Jesus Camp'' .... watch the video and please comment

Quote:
Jesus Camp, a Magnolia Pictures release directed by Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing, is a 2006 documentary about a charismatic Christian summer camp for children who spend their summers learning and practicing their "prophetic gifts" and being taught that they can "take back America for Christ."[1] According to the distributor, it "doesn't come with any prepackaged point of view", and it tries to be "an honest and impartial depiction of one faction of the evangelical Christian community”

Is it just me who find these scenes extremely disturbing?? It is basiclly brainwashing young kids, and throughout the whole clip i felt very uneasy and uncomfortable.

What are peoples views on Evangelical christians?

Ughh... The movie is just so far out there really. Evangelism in the church works to a certain point. I've been influenced by many Christian churches and Evangelism is great... to a certain point. What you are seeing in that video isn't really brainwashing. The children have minds of their own. If they believe that it's going to get them closer to Christ and God than so be it.The movie is just showing the overpowering points though, that's what it's designed to do really. The people are peaceful Christians, their views and way are a little different than mine or many others. I believe they might be going to far, and I believe it would scare me rather than wanting to be closer to Christ. I go to a very modern Christian University and I see the various forms. I thinks it's great to influence and help people to find their peace with God. Though I'm a traditionalist, the Episcopal and even Catholic church is going for the same goal, just through a different matter, one that would make more sense to a person watching this and thinking's it's scary.

Ryan
oh come on not brainwashing? did you really watch it?
yes children do have minds of their own and they should be allowed to develope their own minds and not be told what to think by the church.

on a lighter note.
is it not hilarious watching teddy go on about how homosexuality is wrong? the same man who has now resigned over allegations that he slept with a male prostitute. lmao

  • Children's minds are still developing and extremely impressionable. A 9 year old simply does not have the powers of reason or the experience of the world as a grown adult. Why do you think they receive extra protection under the law.

  • Their lack of development is being deliberately exploited by Becky Fischer

  • The kids have had their minds so clouded by fear that it is impossible for them to think rationally. The level of shame they are made to feel for everyday thoughts (liking harry potter, internally questioning gods existence) borders on criminal.

  • These people show no love whatsoever. Even to the point of hatred of other brands of christianity. If Becky Fischer had access to weapons, she would use them in a second.

  • She actually seems strangely jealous of Islam.

  • You see emotions being deliberately exploited at the expense of logic time and time again. Evolutionists are accused of believing we came from "grey goo" or "primordial ooze" (i forget the exact words used, but definitely along those lines). The message is repeated often enough that every aspect of science is considered suspect and anti-god, even Global Warming. What on earth does Global Warming have to do with religion.

  • Regards abortion, they have their confidence boosted by talk of God's special plan, before then being made to grieve for the bloody murder of "a third of your friends who could be here today".

  • If they do have minds of their own, and intelligence is inherited from their parents, many of these kids are in trouble. One mother discounts science entirely because it can't answer every possible question known to man: "God is the only answer, the only possible answer to everything".

  • Even if they just are good kids and want to please their parents, they are still in trouble.

  • It will take a powerful mind to break free of so much influence.

that's nuts.

almost reminds me of the way the hitler youth used to indoctrine their ilk you see in documentaries and old reel films.

some gems:

"this is the great day of your life since the day you got saved"

notice how the woman wont even let the kid get an answer in when he starts answering about evolution

"creationism is the only possible answer to all the questions"

(my personal favourite:

"we pray over the electrical systems wont go out because of storms (is that not the work of god)?"

then she starts prattling on about the devil ****ing up powerpoint systems and mics THAT IS NUTS NO MATTER WHAT YOU BELIEVE

then she makes a room full of kids and that's what they are. cry. callign kids phonys and hypocrites wtf is that all about, THEY'RE KIDS. i suppose washign their hands with bottles of nestle water makes it all better :-S

you've got a kid saying he feels bad because he finds it hard to believe in god but he gets told that means he's rejected god

skip to a woman with some sort of photoshop programme with the words: the punishment for sin is death....

christ they're praising a cardboard cut out of president bush who has apparently surrounded himself by spiritual people (i think that might be jebus talk for warmongering capitalist scumbags...)

ohhh here's a dude in a "church" that looks more like a concert arena sayign how homosexuality is wrong because the bible tells us. oh he's just said he hopes people dating older folk's partner dies so they get their money. how immensly christian.

they're praying for bush now for selecting a new supreme court nominee. what has THAT to do with christianity? the guys actually going on about how the evanelical vote can sway every elexction if the church keeps growing. i go back to the similarities between that and hitler youth....

that would be funny if it wasnt so disturbing.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly.
When i started watching the clip I didnt know anything about the movie and HOPED it was a movie in the way that it wasnt real.

Apart from the brainwashing of the kids, the political undertones and the hypocrisy really disturbs me.

Oh believe me, theres some rather funny/scary evangelical 'sects' over this side of the pond too, even here in the Emerald Isle. Sure they dont usually have mass brainwashing sessions in stadiums like over in the U.s, but it still goes on.

As for America, have you all heard of Benny Hinn? He a televangelist, and a ****ing tosser.

Heres a video of him doing his 'thing' to people...but edited and in time to some music.. LOL. Who the hell does he think he is?!

For anyone who doesnt know who Benny Hinn is, heres a news reports about him part 1
Part 2

The public must be so damn stupid to believe this shit. I was born and raised a christian, but have lost all respect for any form of organized relgion, this is the type of reasons why!
