Come on people
defnetly not, you can't go to heaven just coz ur christan mind you, you have tto be real christan and have to walk litarly his path to get there.
Okay, another one then: say I am a devote Christian, I go to church every Sunday, I pray to God every day and I follow him to the letter, however I beat my spouse senseless every night too, after I have beaten my spouse I beg God for forgiveness.. does this mean I get it? Will I still go to Heaven? Am I a good person?
then no use, it is not only going to church or praying it is alos how u treat others. and how u treat ur enemy.
But I ask for forgiveness, isn't that valid? I thought if I ask for forgiveness my sins are forgiven and I am reinstated as it were..

so you have to be a good person for it to work mike

but then again what if you're a good person but aren't religious?

I'm not claiming to be an angel by any stretch fo the imagination but I'm a good person as are many people here who do not follow religion.

where do we stand in religions grand scheme of things?

We stand nowhere, that's just it. According to Christians we will burn in Hell for not believing.

ah well suppose it's good that i don't believe in hell either.

I still find it amazing how illogical some people can be believing something that is totally unprovable and more far fetched than lord of the rings.

having faith and believing in God in the religious sense are 2 completely seperate things.

My theory on god existing in a very very simplistic way is that God IS faith and thats it. not some big bearded dude who created the Earth and made man etc... but that's pretty much contradictory to the religious idea of what God is even though it's tied together.

I've got a really long thought out explanation that goes into ALOT more detail on my theory but in a nutshell it goes somethign like...

God exists in whoevers head that believes in God.

Now no matter what they think god is, whether it be some sort of superhuman being or the usual religious idea, God still exists even if it is just in their own minds.

Now what they believe God is, isn't necesarilly true. God didn't make the earth or create man etc...

BUT it's the belief. no matter what you believe god is or stands for, God is pretty much faith which gets you by.

it's a bit hard to take in without knowing the philosophical thinking behind it.
