hey axlash u asked for my theory and ig ave u it. it wasn't meant to be an attack on anyone at all i thought u were just 9interested in my views.

as i said. u can never use physical evidence to "prove" Gods existence. Saying the big bang happened somehow and it must have been God is a major cop out because it's just assuming something. and the same goes for the world round about us.

there's a bigger chance of everything being like it is by chance over the millenia than it being because of some greater power.

and i'm a good person. i do stupid stuff sometimes but as i said i didnt need the Bible to tell me to be nice to people etc... hell if u rea dmy story the other week, i got set about for helping some poor guy out ont he buss that was getting hassled. did the Bible make me do that? no it was my compulsion to do what I thought was right.

in RE we had to do a work on religion criticisers (sp???)- i asked my father whom i should take for i had no idea of any of them and he (who is a re teacher himself) told me i should do it about max feuerbach- this guy says that men created god for we can't explain everything we see and we can not explain the beginning of the world (and we never will- even steve hawkings says that in " a short history of time"!) so god is a reflection on our mistakes- he is our answer to everything we can not explain; every religion-guy (as long as he's not charismatic) has told me that feuerbach's reflection-theory is kind of the hardest and LEGITIMATE critizism on religion;
i see myself as an agnostic for it doesn't matter to me if god is called jahwe, buddha, allah or anyone else- i can not defend christianism for i know i wouldn't if i was born a jew or an arab- but though i think that there is a god cause it's a "comforting" thought; but i do not KNOW that and i'm not looking for a prove of his existence- i will find out anyway as everyone else will after we turn to waste...

Nice topic.

I like your theory, Jim. And i agree with you saying that we don't need a Bible to tell us how to live; which is why i stopped going to church in the first place, because i couldn't stand being preached to anymore, being instructed and how i'm supposed to be, and what my lifestyles are to be. I'm too independent to do that and be restricted by religion.

My beliefs in religion was something my old RE teachers didn't want to hear. :P I'm still not quite sure what i see God as, but i know my beliefs, and they aren't what people normally believe in (from the people i've met).

Good theory Jim and I understand what you mean. For me personally I don't believe in God, just in a higher power, don't really want to name it. I also believe in reincarnation, but that's a different topic!!

If you believe in God then you believe God !

Same with Love and Hate.

You have no proof of either but if you believe it then it is there.

Mike, if you had the answers to your questions would this make a difference? If so why .

I don't think that is the point. I think it is good and challenging to question the meaning of life sometimes. I don't think we should blindly accept things as truth, but should challenge everything and then find our own truth. For everyone it's different, but it doesn't make it less true.

Well I am dubious about religion. Religion is mainly a sense of rules and regulations how to live through life.

To others its comfort

If God exists, and if I meet him when I die, I am going to give him one hell of a mouthful.

I think re-incarnation is a good example of how powerful the human race is.

Maybe re-incarnation has nothing to do with religion but i believe it happens, and i believe that maybe "Hell" if you like is re-incarnation, going through live learning from mistakes and applying that in your next life.

I feel like i have been here before, for some strange reason i have said for many years i don't want to grow old and waste away, i want it to be quick. I have questioned this because in a previous life did i

1. Life a long life and waste away to a disease
2. Life a short life and die quickly

Maybe that has a factor on why i feel so strong about not living to my 70's/80.s

I have done things in my life that are out of character for me and can not explain why i have done them, nothing nasty , just stuff that i wouldn't normally do.

The mind is so powerful, most of us use our five senses, some claim to have the sixth ( mediums etc ) but how are we to know how many senses the mind is truly capable of? Its such an amazing complex thing that i don't believe your mind dies with you, i think its an electrical energy which carries on, ie ghosts etc.

God to me exists, i so much believe that my grandfather is still looking out for me, little things still happen 6 years after he died which make indicate he is here. I think God is a presence, its faith, nothing physical, just a belief in a greater power...the mind. I think religion in itself causes far too much trouble, more then good. Look at all the conflicts going on in the world which stem from someone saying that their God is "right".

I am catholic, not practising, especially when the church i belong to is riddled with pervert priests and that child abuse within the catholic church is swept under the vatican carpet!!!! But if someone asked me if i had a faith and if i believed in god, jesus etc i would say yes.

Jim, have i gave you a run for ya money on the length of that post!!! LOL

well u can't discuss Gods existance on the back of a matchbox can u?

as for reincarnation. ever asked a gouranga person how they know that we get reincarneted and at what point of the 16 cycles they're at. it freaks them out cos they can't answer it.
