Bike theft is big bussiness in The Netherlands I guess; well around where I live at least. People actually do make a living out of it ... Breaking the locks apparently isn't too difficult. Unless you buy the locks that are like 4x the price of the bike, which most people do.

But I decided not to buy a bike anymore until I've got a place to stall it behind locked doors.

I think if I was you Sara, I would just buy one of those expensive locks. Think of it as a long-term investment, rather than 'just a lock'.

I'd give you a tenner if you could find a new bike over here that doesn't have gears. Last one I came across was a BMX i had about 12 years ago. Plus glasgows in the middle of a valley and im on the edge of it. I dont fancy cycling up hill for 7 miles at the end of a full day of uni wthout the aid of gears

He is 8 He did ride his bike with the training wheels, but then his Dad bought him a 'real' bike that was still a bit too big for him and he had a couple of accidents with it and now refuses to even touch it. All his friends are outside playing and as soon as they get their bikes, he comes home. :S I used to think that he'll want it eventually, but then Adrian apparently never felt the need for one either.... so, maybe it's not quite as essential. ?

Yeap me... I usually ride on Saturdays/Sundays and last year I did home-office-home a few times during the summer, it took me a bit more than 1hr each trip.
