Default Just something Personal

Well I broke up with my girlfriend of 2 years just a couple of weeks ago and I'm dealing with it the only way I know how : my songs. Just wrote this a couple of days ago and wanted to share it with anyone who cares to listen:

YESTERDAY’S LOVE

I don't believe in "all that happens,
Happens for the best"
But I do believe in making the best
Of the cards that we are dealt

We gave it a shot, we gave it a chance
So its okay we never got to finish the dance

But I'll never deny you your place in my heart

All those times we kissed
Every time we touched
We walk away cause its all in the past
Nothing to say
I guess life is such
So I say goodbye to yesterday's love

I’m not the man to break down and cry
Though I feel it might be time
So now I must surrender to reason
And accept you can’t be mine

I gave it my all, with no second thoughts
And I’d do it again cause I’d found what I’d sought

And I'll never forget you though we’ll remain apart

All those times we kissed
Every time we touched
We walk away cause its all in the past
Nothing to say
I guess life is such
So I say goodbye to yesterday’s love

I’ve heard the stories of the broken hearted
I’ve seen the scars they wear
So now I add my own little story
For all the world to share

All those times we kissed
Every time we touched
We walk away cause its all in the past
Nothing to say
I guess life is such
So I say goodbye to yesterday’s love

btw, I've notice some other song writers / musicians on the board. Feel free to contact me and I would love to share my old demos or write for/with the bands that are out there.

I'm sorry to hear that Ray. The song sounds beautiful... it's true what they say about pain being the greatest inspiration.

It's funny how that works, isn't it? I know my best writing comes from pain too. When you're miserable you want to write about it. When you're happy, you want to do something else. So, I guess when they say you've got to suffer for your art, it rings true.

Couln't agree with you more. Plus its really hard to not come across cheesy when you're writing something happy.

Its even funnier how all those heartbreak songs I wrote for my friends in the past are now what I'm using to get over my own heartbreak. Of couse def leppard's new album is helping immensly as well.

Hm I told ealier. It's so much easier to write a sad ballad than a happy rocksong. Me and MrSambo wrote a good one though.

Sorry to hear Ray, but a good song. I contacted you to write stuff again..

Edwin

Wow, thatīs moving, Ray. Truly beautiful.

You know... I like to be very unpredictable to myself when I write my songs. There are lots of ways to do that. I donīt usually take a formula and start writing. What I usually do first is create the melody for a chorus or for the verses, but sometimes I happen to create a guitar riff in my head and thatīs where the song can starts from.

As I said to Ray through e-mail, I have a project in the classical music area which is kind of a musical. Iīve learned a lot from writing songs for this project. So itīs helping me out a lot in my band as well.

Iīll write some lyrics in English for new songs so you can all understand what I say and then Iīll post here for you to check it out

Sorry to hear about your breakup, Ray. You did write a beautiful song, though. I like to write when I'm in a rough spot to express how I feel. It's one of those things that you look back at and are proud of what you wrote but would have much rather never had a reason to write it. It's a Catch-22! Peace and love always, my man.

so sorry to hear about your break up with your girlfriend. Time heals all wounds they say. As I was reading your poem I thought wow this so beautiful and I can feel how he is feeling - you defintaley have a knack for this. Also writing your feelings down like this will help you get over it.

Good luck and thanks for sharing it with us.

JO
