flying in the face of aggression here im going to put my hand up and say in the context of the article what he said wasnt racist at all. k he works for the BBC who r supposed to be neutral in pretty much everything they're involved with but apart from that if u see the article it isnt half as bad as the press or anyone else is making out.

the way some people r going on about it u'd think he filled a page with nothing but racist slurs which is totally not the case.

i don't actually see what he was describing being too far removed from people still goign on about the british Empire and how we were all evil back in the day.

killroy's a talk show host over here but a serious one as opposed to most of the cack u guys hit us with. anyways he writes a column for a tabloid paper over here and he made some comments about Arabs that alot of people have took offence at.

the article was talking about some Arab state demanding an apology off the west for something or someone saying we should be thankful for them (it was originally printed in april and reprinted last week so i dont know the exact idea behind it)


and in part of his column he wrote somethign along the lines of what are we to be thankful for, the suicide bombers and limb amputators? are we to be thankful for Arabs killign 3000 civilians in september the 11th? are we supposed to respect them for repressing women?

thats prett6y much the gist of what the uproar is about. when u actually see the context of the article its nothing out of order and it snot as if hes just saying yeah i hate arabs lets kill themn all yet the media are treatiing it as if he's just announced he's standing to be a BNP counseller or something like that.

Showing in fact that he isn't actually qualified to write articles such as these & going by the BBC's recent clamp down on their employees writing freelance after the Hutton debacle he was quite rightly suspended

In the article, headlined "We owe Arabs nothing", Kilroy-Silk scorned the Arab world. It had contributed almost nothing to civilisation, he said, and he referred to Arabs as "suicide bombers, limb-amputators, women repressors".

The attack could hardly have come at a worse time for the sensitive relationship between the British Muslim community and British leaders, following the 11 September attacks and continuing security alerts.

The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) urged the Crown Prosecution Service and the Attorney General, Lord Goldsmith, to investigate the article. Complaints were also lodged with the BBC, the Commission for Racial Equality and the Press Complaints Commission.

In his article, Kilroy-Silk began by expressing contempt at the anti-war campaigners of the Iraq war. He said: "What do [Arabs] think we feel about them? That we adore them for the way they murdered more than 3,000 civilians on September 11 and then danced in the hot, dusty streets to celebrate the murders?

"That we admire them for the cold-blooded killings in Mombasa, Yemen and elsewhere? That we admire them for being suicide bombers, limb-amputators, women repressors? I don't think the Arab states should start a debate about what is really loathsome."

did arabs kill people in mombasa and yemen? are the vast majority of suicide bombers Arab? do these suicide bombers kill and amputate limbs? did Arabs kill 3,000 people in 9/11 and did we not see several Arab countries people celebratign the attacks and do certain Arab countries not repress women?


there is nothing he said in that interview that isn't true. had he said all Arabs are suicide bombers atc then yes he's out of order but as far as im concerned he's stated things that are true.

Do Irish people join the IRA? yes do all of them? no but did i claim all of them did? no and kilroy never claimed all Arabs did what he described either but to say noe of them do is lunacy.

i'm actually quite impressed that some people still have the balls to stick their head out and voice their OPINIONS (remember them? apparently we're all entitled to one though some more than others) when they know they'll get attacked for it.

Thank you guys - it sounds very much like the kind of flap we have here also.
It sounds as if he chose his words poorly - obviously Arabs contributed to the advance of civilization (anyone who studies Math knows that). But - another side of the argument is - anything recently? It is a fact that the greater Muslim (Arab) community has shunned the outside world and has preferred living in the 7th century. This is a generality of course but it applies to a vast majority.
