Ermm, But the same goes for the ppl that were offended by it, & the organisation that didn't want those views representing it.

He was allowed to print the article. Ppl r allowed to say what they think of it.

Banning headscarves is hardly in the tradition of free speech

But now we r deviating from the original subject. They can try as much as they want as long as they aren't successful. I will have no qualms in telling one of these ppl that they should be allowing us to enjoy the freedom of our religion as much as they do.

i'm pointing out that leaders of Mosques can get away with demanding we take out crosses off our churches and telling the listeners to wage a war on Britain and it's people but someone no matter what position they hold with regards to the media looks pretty much sacked because of a misuse of words

Obviously you're not aware that what France has done is propose a laïcity law to forbid ANY religious signs in state schools. So it stands for headscarves, crosses, kipas, etc... That has been a tradition in France for about a century now, there just wasn't any clear law for it. The government thought it was necessary because of some controversies in the past years. When I was a kid I often had mates that were told by the teacher to put there crosses under their shirts and so on... It's a system that works and that doesn't make more or less tolerant, it's just another solution.
France is one of the countries in the world where religion and politics are seperated 100%. You'll never hear the french president or prime minister mention God in a speech or anything. We have a strong belief that religion and faith must be a personal path to take, with as little influence as possible, and that it's a choice that should be made alone when you turn 18 (adult age in France as in many countries).
I know in the US, ie, it's completely free to wear religious signs in school, and it also works, I have no problem with it either, as long as people respect each other.

i think its great that every1 can show their religious beliefs...as a sikh who wears a turban that is veyr important to me...my dad, when he came here to england was told that he had to cut his turban off if he wanted work...so he did to support himself and my mom...i am glad those times have mostly gone...
