Seb - that looks so cool. We have cities full of legos in my house. These are the toys that two engineer parents bought their kids and then the parents played with them too. We have lego trains that we built bridges for - castles - space stations - you name it and we probably have it. We have many many hours of fun listening to music and playing with legos. My daughter is 14 and we still build stuff - only now it is electrified and much more advanced.

I can only agree with Seb: Lego rocks!

Here's a little bit about the beginning:

1932
Ole Kirk Christiansen, master carpenter and joiner, establishes his business in the village of Billund, Denmark. His firm manufactures stepladders, ironing boards, stools and wooden toys.
His son, Godtfred Kirk Christiansen, starts working in the business at the age of 12

1934
The company and its products now adopt the name LEGO, formed from the Danish words "LEg GOdt" ("play well"). Later, it is realised that in Latin the word means "I put together".
The firm has 6-7 employees.
Ole Kirk places the following motto on the workshop wall: "Only the best is good enough"

early wooden Lego

1947
The LEGO Company is the first in Denmark to buy a plastic injection-moulding machine for toy production. The machine costs 30.000 Danish Crowns. By comparison, the revenue of the firm this year is 450.000 Danish Crowns

1949
The company produces around 200 different plastic and wooden toys, including Automatic Binding Bricks, a forerunner of the LEGO bricks we know today. They are sold in Denmark exclusively.
The first packaging with four colours is introduced

1958
The current LEGO stud-and-tube coupling system is patented. The new coupling principle makes models much more stable

I've got some of the same models that Seb does... wow, I didn't think anyone had models that old anymore. I got mine, like, 10 years ago. I was really into Legos at one point. Never had anywhere near as many as Seb though. That display is amazing!

Y'all should check out K'NEX. If your kids like Legos, they'll like K'NEX. Its like updated Legos, using plastic rods and connectors. Very cool. I still (on rare occasions) build complex models out K'NEX.

My son has reached the age that he THINKS lego is not cool anymore. So I put it all in boxes....just saving it so he can build again when he turns to get age of wisdom. He has this trains and lots of starwarslego. Amazing what you can build with those little stones

He's an (sorry Mouse) idiot. Lego will always be cool. I still need to meet the first person who does not look happy after he build something.

I had K'NEX too, played with it loads and it was great for making moving things like windmills and little cars that had working steering wheels, lol. I gave all of mine to my 6 year old cousin a few weeks ago.
