It's a sad state of affairs - probably noticed more now. My daughter just finished her first year of high school ( she is almost 15) and the public schools here do not teach any religion. But the Muslim girls all seem to wear head scarves and they are not allowed (by their families) to participate in anything. They can't do gym or music or art - and they are not allowed by the families to read the same books in the english classes (you know, the classics). They never mix with the other kids so that they can find out what our society is all about - the good and the bad. And, this seems mostly to apply to the girls - the boys can do what they please

I fell sorry for the kids who are missing out on stuff and I feel sorry for our society because these people will grow up believing themselves separate from the rest of us.
