From http://www.live8live.com/tickets.shtml

Details of the text number and competition will be announced on the 6th June - via all UK radio stations & BBC Television. No entries will be accepted before 00:01 on the 6th June.

Each entry costs £1.50* plus your operator's standard text charge.

The competition will close at midnight on the 12th June and winners will be chosen at random by computer and notified by text message after the 13th June with details of how they can collect their tickets - either online or from collection points around the UK.

Due to the tight deadlines we are working to, you will need to be able to collect your tickets within ten days of notification of winning, otherwise you will forfeit them.

I am gonna enter about three times I think. Before I realised that the tickets were free, I would of paid a lot for them. At the end of the day, If I enter three times it is only gonna cost me £4.50. I definately would of paid a lot more than a fiver to see Live Aid. Its a huge lottery and the chances of actually getting a ticket are slim.

They are expanding Hyde Park by 50% so were gonna be looking at 150,000 people on the day, meaning 75,000 lucky people recieve a 'winning text message'. Not an awful lot to be honest. Reports have suggested here, that around half the UK's population are gonna be applying for tickets, so its basically a big competition to win tickets.

For me to see this event would be a dream. I have been getting pretty excited about it. I shouldnt build my hopes up about it, but its just something so special and I would love to look back in another 20 years time and be able to tell people 'I was there!'

I am wondering if I will be able to enter....the number supplied will possibly be for UK residents only and might not acept foreign txts.

I hate that. I would love to go to Hyde park!

Surely they would make an exception for residents from ireland, if you did happen to be one of the lucky winners of a ticket! You can still txt in with your answer! You dont have anything to lose in trying! You've gotta be in it, to win it!

that`s what I`m afraid of...not being able to text cause I`m not from the Uk??
I would love to go there, it would be a dream come true. I wasn`t there the first time...babykids were not able to leave alone...so now I would like to be part of this whole happening.

But textmessages should be able to be send from all around the world wouldn`t they???

Though that might cost a lot of mobey extra...doesn`t matter..
I would have paud a lot for a ticket( sorry 2 tickets)
But as soon as there is more info I would hope someone will post this...please
and thanks

This is the only information I have. Taken from the official Live 8 website.

Tickets for the LIVE 8 London concert in Hyde Park will be allocated via a text competition.

For the chance to win a pair of tickets to the London event you will need to enter the text competition - you can enter as many times as you like.

* Ask bill payer's permission before texting. The first £1.6 million raised from the text competition will go to The Prince's Trust which is sharing a proportion of the income with Help a London Child. The rest will go to pay for the costs of LIVE 8, as it is a free event.

Help a London Child is an appeal run by Capital Charities, Registered Charity Number 1091657.

The Prince's Trust, Registered Charity Number 1079675 .

Those who are not lucky enough to get tickets will be able to watch the show on giant screens in the centre of major cities across the UK including Birmingham, Hull, Liverpool, Manchester, Plymouth, Belfast, Leeds and Wrexham.

(Glad I can watch it on a big screen seens how I live in Liverpool )
