considering bollocks like big brother can get close to ten million texts in a week, this thing is going to be huge.

75,000 winners out of what could be close to 50 million entries isnt a really good odds.

Edinburgh city council are going mental because Bob Geldoffs told peopl ehe wants them to go from live8 to edinburgh cause he wants a million people on the streets marching when the g8 summit is actually on. Add all the fannies that are planning to tie themselves to train tracks, wreck shops and basically be a general pain in the arse n it's not going to be a cool week up here.

Luckilly I'll be going a nice shade of bright red in greece at the time

do we have times? Start and end time.

I am going to have a party and need to get my invites out. :P

I do remember the last one was simultaneously in the US and UK --- don't remember the specific times, but that must have meant mornings in the US and evening in the UK?

(I hate timezones)

Irish fans not eligible for Live 8 ticket lottery

Irish music fans will not be able to go to London's Live 8 concert on July 2.

A text message lottery for the tickets is to be held tomorrow, but will not be accessible from Ireland.

The 150,000 tickets for the London concert will be awarded through an O2 UK-run text lottery, starting at 8am.

O2 Ireland is a separate franchise and is not part of the British O2 operator's system, which is why Irish customers are unable to participate in the draw.

Listeners to BBC and commercial radio stations across Britain will be asked to answer a multiple-choice question and to send a text message to a number given at the time. The winners are eligible to get two tickets to the show.

The lottery question will also be shown on big screens in seven cities across Britain, and shown live on TV.

The free event will be held in London's Hyde Park with concerts in Philadelphia, Paris, Rome and Berlin.

The original Live Aid concerts, in July 1985 in Wembley Stadium and JFK Stadium, Philadelphia, raised £40m (€59.3m) for famine relief in Africa.

there was an article in yesterdays daily mail (no need for the tory jokes ive heard them all) about the 1st live aid, how it ran backstage and how close to falling apart it was plus alot of cool little quirky stories about the stars.

midge ure, pr's and varous staff contributed to it. if you can find it online it's worth a read.
