yes it's the colonists fault that the UK dropped £30 million worth of debt in Ugannda and their leader decided to buy himself a £30million private jet the next week.

And it's the colonists fault that these guys are living in palace while 3 quarters of their population can't feed themselves.

just like it's the old slave owners (and as a result), the present day white man's fault that black kids in ghettoes would rather smoke crack on corners than go to school and get an education.

I'm not saying it's their complete and absolute fault but it is partly at least. If the colonists would have put to use and invested in the many resources those countries had instead of exploiting them badly and not bringing any good in return and had helped educating the population things wouldn't really stand as they do now. But of course it didn't interest them, it would not do.

The US don't seem to be doing too bad along with plenty of other countries that were colonised.

There are plenty of countries and areas that were never colonised that are ****ed up.

You can't use colonisation as an excuse for the corrpution and general bullshit these guys enact.

Colonisation actually brought most these countries out of the dark ages even if it was at the end of a gun for the most part.

because the US made up for it through slavery!

Actually, I think the native Americans did make out EXTREMELY POOR due to the colonization - wouldn't you agree?

The American people en masse aren't starving was the point I was trying to make.

With regards to slavery, the US only made up a fragment of the over-all slave trade. The West indies and Middle East (and even Africa itself) made up more than it's fair share and they aren't exactly thriving economically for the most part.

And why then according to you are these people so corrupt then? Surely education or the lack of it has something to do with it?

Colonisation had a lot to do with it. They made a mess of these countries and tried to made maps with a ruler and a pencil and created a hell of a mess by that too since the tribes are competing for power.

It's a balancing act. Colonisation brought alot of progress to the countries involved and at the same time had negative efftects. i'm not denying this. The countries did suffer but we're talkign about single rulers or governments shitting on their own people here, the countries are still ****ed up because of the people running them, not colonisation.

Europe was wrecked after both wars, instead of grabbign what they could for themselves, the leaders made a plan to move their countries as a whole forward....

that's why i hated sociology so much it's pretty much the art of escaping blame.
