I am in agrreance with Carli. We just had to change the night we were seeing Oasis. There is just no way I would be able to stand at an Oasis gig, knowing what was happening a few hundred miles south. Its great that those who arent fortunate to get tickets, can still watch it on giant screens in the major cities. At least you can still watch it in a big crowd and have a beer or two

The American people en masse ARE the colonists. The native Americans were killed and distinguished, the few left are discriminated against to this day.

I don't see how you can make a point about the country based on how well the colonists are doing. It's like saying, look we Brits are doing really well, hence colonizing another country has no effect on them. It doesn't make sense.

Exactly, so much that some already forgot who colonized what.

No, it is clearly not a balancing act. Colonisation brought a lot of progress that was uncalled for. It is pretty much always a negative thing for a nation when the progress did not evolve from its citizens but was brought to them by a foreign power. The countries are ****ed up because their leaders liked the immediate effects of what was brought to them but had no clue or chance to grab what corruption or exploitation would mean in the long run since they had never witnessed it on their soil.
You may find it funny that I refer to Star Trek here, but the prime directive ain't just some sci-fi bull.

Exactly. Because they themselves were responsible for what happened and made up their own minds to improve things. It was not brought to them. It wasn't installed by foreigns within the blink of an eye. We needed not to wonder why it doesn't work when it works where it came from. It had to work. It evolved and was worked on.

I'm not championing the cause of colonisation here all i'm saying is that these leaders are corrupt because they can be, not because the country was run by the europeans 100 years ago.

The countries are in a mess because of colonisation inthe 1st place, the leaders are the ones keeping it in the mess when they could be helping it, they choose not to, they're not forced not to.

More cities were listed?

Johannisburg, Tokyo and some Canadian place:

Bryan Adams to Play Canadian Live 8 Concert

Bryan Adams, Our Lady Peace and Motley Crew will be among the headline acts at the Canadian edition of the Live 8 concert on July 2, organisers announced today.

The concert, one of eight held simultaneously around the world that day to raise awareness about poverty, will take place in Barrie, just north of Toronto, organiser Michael Cohl said.

Actor Dan Aykroyd and comedian Tom Green will host the show, which will mostly feature Canadian artists, including Jann Arden, Gordon Lightfoot and The Tragically Hip.

The other concerts will be held in London, Paris, Berlin, Rome and Philadelphia, Tokyo and Johannesburg. Among the names in music to feature in the events are U2, Madonna, Sir Paul McCartney, Coldplay and Sting.

Live 8 has been spearheaded by musician Bob Geldof, who organised the massive Live Aid concert 20 years ago and raised millions for African famine relief.

The Live 8 shows, however, are not intended to immediately raise funds but awareness.

Deep Purple is also playing in Toronto. Audioslave and Green Day in Germany.

I soooo want one channel per city!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!

The thing Barrie will be best remembered for is the grow-op that was busted at the former Molson Brewery last year. Apparently it took the Barrie power official a while to realize "Hey, there sure does seem to be a lot of power used at the empty and abandoned Molson Plant"

Speaking of Molson's, the venue is part of the old Molson Brewery grounds. My roomie from university lives 5 minutes from Molson Park, so we're both trying for tickets.

oh that is hilarious. I've never heard of Barrie and couldn't remember the name, all I knew is that Toronto wanted it, but some other place got it

good luck with that!!!

I still think we should have had something on the west coast. There is an aweful big distance between London and Tokyo

I really hope we can get a ticket while were down there. They seem to be selling for hundreds. I hope we meet a nice person who just isnt a tout, and whom wants rid of their tickets, but doesnt want mega-bucks for them. We can only hope now. We will be there anyway, even if we have to watch it on the big screen, with the other 300,000 people.

I am sure the general mood will be fantastic and there will be oodles of people like you, so you can tailgate in the parking lot or something. You'll still have tons of fun, I am sure.

Yeh we will. Thanks Maria. If we get tickets, we will just sleep on a blanket or something overnight before the show...shame none of us have tents, but then again, there would be nowhere to leave them anyway, so it will be a big adventure. I seriously cant wait. I am confident that the atmosphere is gonna be better than anything I have seen before. At least if were there, then we can still pick up some merchandise. Anyone here offering loans? :P
