Default London Astoria Closure

Personally, I will be hapy to see the back of the deeply unpleasant doorstaff, the cheek of such a fleapit to expect you to pay a washroom assistant, the beer prices, the overcrowding and the chicken wire fences, but the impending closure of the astoria is obviously worthy of comment

John Band agrees and is clearly an interesting read: http://www.johnband.org/blog/

any thoughts?

It should never be closed..it should be listed..it already feels like something from Dante's inferno as you descende into the blackness..and pray to God there is not a fire...It smells of stale smoke, old beer and urine...The staff don't speak english and security are rubbish...Still have a sore head from flying beer can on friday. IT ROCKS!

Classic gig venues like this should be protected. It's a great venue but it's let down by poor management and massive health and safety fears. If these were sorted it would be one of the best places to see a gig in London.
