Possibly look into parking on Grassmarket which is only 5 minutes walk from the Royal Mile at the Castle end or at the Castle Terrace carpark. They have a lot of spaces there but I don't know whether they allow overnight parking.

We stayed at a hotel in Royal Terrace when we visited Edinburgh. Adria Hotel I think it was called. Good location and good prices.

Excuse me, I live in Gorgie! It's not that bad....

Nah, seriously though, if I were a tourist I wouldn't want to stay here. Best try to get a more central place really.

Oh, and if you're into seeing castles/beaches, give Aberdeenshire a visit. Really beautiful area. But then, coming from there, I may be a bit biased

The Pearl ones are probably your best bet but I wouldn't go for the Glennfiddich rooms and definitely not the Caledonia options as they are on a very quiet backstreet, in a very dodgy area, alongside the very busy West Approach Road.
I catch the bus to work at Fountainpark and the Lidl carpark by the West Approach Road was still crawling with police from where that Australian woman was raped two days ago. I really don't like that area of the city at all but didn't mean to offend - I don't think you were even in Edinburgh when I first posted that, you were still up in Aberdeen.

I agree though. I've been to Aberdeenshire a couple of times and it is a beautiful part of Scotland.

No problem I'm down here for uni, couldn't take Heriot Watt's Halls of Residence any longer so I've rented a flat with some friends. Oh and wait...an AUSTRALIAN WOMAN WAS RAPED IN GORGIE?!?!

OK, technically Dalry but it's right on the border of Gorgie and it happened at 3pm in the afternoon! It was all over the Metro paper as well. They got the guys who did it from the sounds of it but it's frightening and sickening to know it happens so close to home. I walk that underpass almost everyday.
