Default Long Term Goals....

Ok, this is slightly related to the "Its the Time Of Year Again" thread, but I want to know what your Long Term Goals are. Not just 2006, but 2007 and beyond also. Where do you want to be in five or more years time?

For me really starts with next year...Although its going to be like a vactation, I have always wanted to see America (New York primarily) so thats gonna be like achieving a goal next year. Secondly, I want to see where I am this time next year in my job...promotion perhaps? If not, then I will probably move on and look for something else. I am happy, but the distance is a little too much and id prefer something slightly closer.

Next on my list will be to get my eyes sorted. I'm really against the idea of having to wear glasses or contact lenses. I am already looking into the possibility of Laser Eye Surgery, even despite of its cost, its something I have to do, If I want to see like a 'normal' person again. Im sick of squinting hehe! Once that is sorted, I definately want to be able to drive, so lessons is another major goal of mine.

The only other thing I can realistically think of right now, is to have moved out and into a house on my own. For this I need to be on a higher wage than I am on now, and preferably with a significant other so we can share mortage costs. Morgage costs for one person is just rediculous, so having a wife and kids is also something that would aim for in the not too distant future.

What are yours?

A wife or husband is not something I'll be looking for that's for sure. I thoroughly enjoy being on my own and making all decisions by myself - getting exactly what *I* want.

No more kids for me either - at least not of the two-legged variety

I do want to make a committment of taking better care of myself and getting my finances in order. Once I move into my new house, there really isn't much else I need, so retirement planning is on order - sheeshhh..... Along with that would be to really think about what I want to do with my life - workwise. I don't want to be in my job for too much longer and I certainly want to retire before 65. Perhaps I will eventually act on my dreams and open that pet store I've been dreaming of.... If so, I need to come up with a good and solid plan and work on it - dreaming alone will not accomplish anything.

Then, all I really need to do to keep my health up is to find ways to relax for once. I feel so unbelievably stressed out, I just want to crawl into a hole and stay there and fade away. Haven't had proper vacations/time off in such a long time and now if I do have a week off, I don't know how to relax. I still end up running around like crazy.

Finally, I want to go on vacations that *I* like - without pressure of what is expected of me and what my family expects of me. I really need to listen to myself and do what is good for me and be a bit less pre-occupied with accomodating other people.

My goals are a bit less defined, but I feel like I've been there done that already for most things, so now it is time to BE ME!

Mine could probably be...

Getting braces...something I've been trying to do for years and guess I'm really determined now and have already gone to one consultations and about to make some other appointments.

Moving to another country. Not sure when but it'll probably be towards the end of 2006 or beginning of 2007.

Having a baby.

I may have some others but they are more short term ones...like taking French lessons.

Graduation would be nice. If things go like planned - I should be done in 2 years from now. I'm only halfway now and getting annoyed by my course more and more... so I guess it's not gonna be easy to reach the end with full motivation.

After my graduation I might start doing some master degree. Not sure what exactly, but changes are that I'll go abroad for that; there are not many master degrees in the direction I'm going in this country... Maybe the US... maybe Australia... who knows!

I'm not sure if I still will be working on my own company in a couple of years. I like it right now, but it's more a sort of a 'student job' for some extra money. I like the independancy though and would hate to have a 9 - 5 job.

Furthermore I hope to have visited a couple more of my 'top 10 countries to visit' list. Working on that for the upcoming summer right now . And of course I will still be together with the same guy. But no kids or anything in the near future .

Someday I'd like to return to Amsterdam where I was born and raised. But I think, in a few years from now, I will still be exploring other places. So probably not living in Amsterdam, but where I do live? No clue.

After my graduation in 2007 i would like to do a Master's degree, preferably in European Politics or something related to it. I know it doesn't really fit my current degree, but it would be a nice add on

i will also have to figure out what i want to do with my life... right now i am not even sure which field i want to work in.

the only thing that is certain is that i am not looking to get married or to have children any time within the next 5 years.
