Default Losses

Me is a bit sad today. This morning I found that my aunty (well great aunty) died first thing this morning. They put it down to heart failure. She only went in with a bad leg, then her back went and has been on a drip and oxygen for just over two weeks. My mum went to see her last night, and she looked and seemed a lot better so we were all really pleased. Her son phoned my mum this morning to tell us the bad news.

She was 89, and had had a good life. The funeral will probably be next Saturday.

Im just bummed that i never got to say goodbye properly, i didnt visit her in hospital, for the simple reason being that if anything was to happen to her, i only wanted to remember the good times and when she was fit and well. I didnt want to remember her lying in a hospital bed. At least my mum gave her my love each time she went, so she knew I was thinking about her.

Sorry guys, just needed to get it out...

condolences bro it's always hard losing people this time of year. my grandfather died just before my 17th birthday a couple of years ago and our old headmaster died 2 years ago this week or next and it seems to be worse cos christmas is a time of family and all.

at least she had a long life and id be chuffed if i managed an innings that long tho i doubt i will. my headmaster died at 52 or somethign close and he was a really healthy guy.

Sorry to hear about your loss Kev... Like Jim said, this time of year it makes it even more difficult with Christmas coming up. And even if you didn't go and visit her in the hospital, she got your regards and knew you were thinking about her. Don't feel bad about not visiting her - it's quite understandable that you couldn't see her like that. At least you have a lot of good memories, and know that she had a good life.

My uncle's wife passed away two weeks ago, she had bone cancer. They knew about it for a month, and knew she's gonna die. They didn't tell anyone about it, and I totally understand, they wanted the last days to be just the immediate family. My mum had problems relating to that at first, but then she realised why they didn't want people to head over there with flowers and symphatetic words. I wasn't all that close to her, they kept to themselves a lot, she and my uncle, but it's always something that makes you think. And I know that she had a good life, and that their relationship was stronger. And at least they had a chance to say everything they wanted to say to each other.

What I'm trying to say I guess that it's always a shock to lose someone dear to you, and it takes a while. Friends and family is what helps you get by. A warm hug to you Kev, take care!
