I dont think its connected to 11/9 although it could be in honour of It I suppose

Crashing planes into buildings/hi-jackings has long been an ideal of the (muslim) terrorists,

That is not what the media want you to believe though:

"Obviously this picture is a representation of the twin towers and the fact that it is an Iraq Airlines plane clearly suggests that it was them who were behind the attacks on NY and The Pentagon."

That is what they want to say, but they can't just come out and say it, so they have to hint at it.

I disagree with you Penrose. I think that they are trying to paint a picture of people celebrating the 9/11 attack. If, in fact, they are the Twin Towers in the pic.
You can speculate all that you want, only the artist knows.

The plane's logo and coloring resembled that of Iraqi Airlines, said Getty Images News Service executive Brian Felber, based in New York.

The photograph, showing two rifle-toting Marines in front of the mural, was shot by staff photographer Joe Raedle, who is accompanying the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force from Task Force Tarawa.

Getty is a news photo agency that distributes about 500 photographs from around the world each day and has 10 staff members embedded with U.S. forces in the Iraq conflict.

Felber said this photo was "causing a bit of a stir."

Any comments?

I don't understand what the fuss is about. It's no big secret that the Iraqis don't like the Americans (though someone obviously forgot to tell the soldiers... They thought there would be no resistance...). Anyone could've painted that and it doesn't mean a thing.

If I paint one now with Finnish aeroplanes, does that mean that Finland was a part of the attack?

propaganda is a dangerous thing. i wouldnt put it past the iraqis making a mural since saddam praised the attacks on the day they happened. maybe they are fakes? i doubt it but u've always goto keep an open mind with things like this. apparently they've found al qaeda training camps in northern iraq and iraqi soldiers have been firing on iraqi civilians fleeing them. maybe it is all pro war propaganda but coming from a regime who would gas its own population i wouldn't put anything past them.

and anyone who thinks that the iraqi government has no knowledge or involvement with al qaeda or other islamic terrorist organisations is a fool

Jim, you obviously don't know much about the Al Quaeda - Iraq situation, so i advise you to shut up and read some books. Saddam hates the Al Quaeda as much as Mr. Bush does

They don't have to be involved with them to like what they did.

Exactly...but remember things are not always as they appear. One never knows.
