I think middle names are fine. Why not? Mine is Tuulikki, it means something like little wind. I've never really liked it... But I think it's my dad's sense of humour, it's the closest he could come up with a windmill... (My last names means Mill meadow or Mill hill)

I like middle names too.. I think you can have some fun with a middle name. Mine is Anna, nothing adventurous, but it was my grandmother's name.

My middle name is Michael. It was gonna be my First name, but My cousin was born a month or so before me and he was named michael, so my mum didnt wanna have two Michaels in the family so They had to chose Kev(in ). I dont see why everyone gets embarrassed by their middle names

I think middle names can be very useful. For example: I still go to universaty, and sometimes I need to send emails to people also going to this universaty. I can go check their email in the addressbook from the uni, but most of the time there are a LOT of people with the same last name and chances are 1 out of 26 (or mabye even more because there are a lot of first names starting with an M for example) that there is somebody else with the same first name. these middle names help me to find the right people. and this is just on my universaty (about 10.000 people walk around here). Image this in the whole country or the whole world... although I doubt there is somebody in china with the last name Kieboom... but you never know!

just my thoughts on this issue

My grandads first name is Eric, my dads first name is Eric, and my middle name is Eric. Thankfully my mum didn't allow for me to be called Eric too, as it would have been more confusing than it already is, lol

I think it's important for the identity, it can be useful. Mine is Natacha, my older sister.
I liked choosing ones for my kids. James is Guy like my grand father and Edwin, he is the 5th in my husband's family.
And Rachel is Jeanne like my grandmother and Catherine like my husband's grandmother. And i know our respective families like them because it's a sort of homage to our ancestors.

I do like middle names a lot! I must have posted this a bout a hundred times but my middle name is actually Cristina (the name everyone knows me by) since my first name is Maria and there's this tradition in my family that all girls have Maria as their first name and go by their middle name.

I think it makes most people unique having more than one name. Also in countries where people usually have only one last name it makes things much easuer when it comes down to IDs, etc. In Spain we have two last names (father's and mother's) and that's why people usually have only one name.
