ALWAYS read what you're signing. There is no way a company like Orange is going to breach customer contracts so blatantly so it will be down there somewhere. Maybe not necesarilly saying you get 6 months then your texts are gone but they will have a clause sayign they can change clauses or the contract after a given period providing they give notice in writing.

Legally it's not an unfair term and if you sign, you agree ergo the contract stands with all the clauses in it.

That's terrible, Kev. That's why I stick to pay as you go - maybe we don't get the same offers and promos but we are in charge of what we spend all the time. And it's up to us to pay or not pay, they don't automatically charge it into your account without you knowing. Plus, I need to see what I'm spending - I'm always scared I would go "crazy" and spend too much since I'm not "handling" the money myself.

I only use my mobile for sms. I even hate to get phonecalls and seldom do I bother with picking them up. I usually silence them and let the machine take care. I hate to speak on the phone when I'm out and surrounded by strangers My usual expense is about 30 euros a month or so.

I do know what your saying, and I definately appreciate what you are saying too. I was on Pay As You Go (Pre-pay) for around four years, maybe five years in total, and it was fine until I started putting £50 a month on all the time, and I wasnt getting much benefit from it to be honest. I moved over to contract, because it was much cheaper for me. It still is. I personally could never go back to Pay As You Go now, coz I have discovered just how expensive it is for txt messages and calls.

As you said, it is easy to go mad when you have 'unlimited usage' but if you know you cant pay the bill at the end of the month, then you force yourself to be carefull with just what you spend. Thats what I do, and its very rare that I go overbudget.

I pay 20€ each 2 months and have free sms's for the same network. and i rarely need to put any extra money...

Id go back to pay as you go but its too expensive to make short calls. I do think we all rely far too much on our mobiles though, I really enjoy going out without mine when I can.

I was actually on the 5:00 news today for Cell Phones... Reporters were at the local Arby's when they asked if they wanted to interview me. I said yes, so they wanted to know about Text Messeging... I told them it was insane and so on. Phones are taking our own lives away from us. It's sick!

I'm on Pay As You Go and prop spend about £10 a month. Don't use it that much.

though I half agree, I hate people sitting texting away at a table with other people it's just incredibly rude

plus all this texting and emailling is making actual flirting a lost art.
