Right now I don't have that many effects. When I record I use digital effects on my comp, but live I usually play with BOSS Chorus pedal, BOSS OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion and sometimes I just use my amp, Laney Linebacker. It's got two channels so I use one for distortion/overdrive and one for clean sounds. I change guitars to get different sounds. But I'm pretty much meat&potatoes kind of guy when it comes to guitar sounds.

I've used Cry Baby Wah's with or without fuzz and they're great...

ive got a zoom 3000 with control pedal and a coupla boss pedals. if ur on a budget and playing in ur bedroom then go for the zoom. the gfx8 is supposed to be prettyg ood but the boss multi fx sound really good too.

if ur playing live or doing serio9us recording i suggest u get singles. just now ive got a keeley modded boss blues driver (orgasm inducing pedal ) boss ds1 used as a boost, boss chorus ensemble, boss ge7 eq, boss tu2 stage tuner and a crybaby wah.

out of all of them i REALLY recommend checking out robert keeley's stuff he can modify new pedals or u can send ones u own to him. it is incredible how good his blues driver sounds and hes a very nice guy. he does stuff on ce2's ds1s, rats, wah true bypassing, boss sd1's and a coupla tube screamer mods. check him out i promise uw ont be disappointed.

as far as i'm concerned it's mostly down to the amp... i don't use effects that much and neither does richie compared to most guitarists...

he has a delay pedal i'm sure (especially stuff like lay your hands on me in the 80s - or livin' in sin), chorus and wah...

he probably has some other preamps such as distortion tone/reverb but they are more "finetuning" - especially since you won't be playing stadiums!

sorry meant to mentino that to me the keeley blues driver pretty much gets a richie like overdrive sound. the ds1 mods sound quite van halen ish and hes made a couple of ds1's for stevie vai and john petrucci just to give u a show of his calibre.
