Default My life sucks and here is why

Well yesterday was an exciting day at work...and not in a good way. On Monday, one of my co-workers went to my supervisor and told her that I was doing my homework out on the floor.
Number 1, I was not doing my homework, I didn't even have my school books. They were with my teacher because the last time I was in class we were evacuated from the building for a bomb threat and was not let back in the building.
Number 2, the person (the co-worker) has been known to spread lies and gossip about me before on many occasions. For instance, she has gone around and told people that I am a lesbian. Even going as far as telling my ex-boyfriend that. (he works there also.) He told her to get out of his face.
Anyhow, on Monday, what I did was jot down a couple of notes. That was it. I wasn't ignoring my work, I was waiting on her. She has a habit of walking off to go talk to someone for 10 minutes (gossip).
Also I keep a little memo pad to jot down notes about any and everything. I like to call it my extra brain. If I don't, I would forget everything it seems. It could be anything from something I need to remind my supervisor about...to something I need to bring somebody the next day. If I need to remember it, I jot it it down.
And I will admit, I took a couple of seconds to jot something down.
That is nothing compared to the person who told on me, taking time to look through sales ad's while clocked in on a job, or like I said, walking off to talk to someone for 15mins while clocked on to a job.
Anyhow, Monday, my supervisor called me on our department phone and said "Tonia, please don't do your school work on the floor." That was all she said. I didn't deny that I was doing homework, because I didn't think anything of it.
On Wednesday, my supervisor (Her name is Deb) called me to come up to the Plant Manager's office (Fred).
It turned out that the same person who went to Deb, also went to Fred the next day (or on Wed) and told him that I was doing my homework on the floor.
He and Deb said that I was told once before to not do my homework on the floor. And for the life of me, as much as I banged my head trying to remember, I don't remember ever doing my homework on the floor...or Deb even telling me before Monday. I really think Deb has me confused with another Co-worker, Dawn, who I have heard Deb tell not to do her homework on the floor. But I can't prove it.
I told them that, and Fred basically said that it was my word against theirs and since they are upper mgmt, their word counts.
And they sent me home so they can do an investigation, and they will call me.
Never ONCE was I formally "WRITTEN" up on anything!!! I was just sent home. That was it.

It really po's me off. As many times as I went to Deb and her boss, about the harrassement I have received from my co-workers and nothing was ever done. I have to hear crazy jokes, fat jokes..you name it. There are rumors flying around work about me. Comments made to others and to me about me going postal. Which there is no way that I would ever do that.
I have heard negative comments about me going back to school nights, about the fact I see a shrink, you name it.
I have to deal with this on a daily basis. If it weren't for the fact that I need this job and the insurance...I would have left along time ago.
The stress of the harrassment has started to make me physically ill now.

Today, I am going to go to Synovus Human Resoursces and see if that helps. Synovus is the company that owns the company that I work for.

Thanks for letting me vent. Wish me luck. ~Tonia~

Sounds like u r getting a raw deal.

Don't let it get to u - always keep a positive outlook!!! If it is bothering how these ppl r acting - sit down with your supervisor & tell them how u feel!! Don't try shifting the blame, but discuss how u r working / get your work done, what u use the notepad for. & if this fails, really hammer it down - work really hard & show them just what u can do.

If it is still bothering u / hasn't been sorted out, then keep your eye open for other jobs - it'll be their loss if u go.

Hope it works out - & just remember - things will sort themselves out in the end. Always look on the bright side. What comes around, goes around.

Hope this helps,

Mike

Right now I am so worried that I might end up getting fired. They sent me home yesterday for goodness sakes.
The funny thing is, I have always gone out of my way to be nice to these folks. But for some reason, a few of my co-workers have done nothing but harrass me.
I just can't understand why I was sent home yesterday...Fred was acting like I had commited murder or something. The only reason why I think they sent me home, was that they are afraid I would start something...which is totally off, that isn't something I would do.
I feel like I am being discrimated against because I see a shrink.
I know for a fact that some of my co-workers are uncomfortable working around me, even though I have done nothing to cause that.

But provided that I don't lose my job, I am going to tell all that I know...my co-workers make racist remarks, one co-worker will just sit there and not work on the job she is on. Another walks around eating on the floor, even though we have been told that we are not allowed to.
Another is always on the phone, and then there is the gossip.

And I have went to my imm. supervisor before, and she acted like it is my fault for the harrassment. That I shouldn't discuss my personal life. Well back in 99, when I had my nervous breakdown, it wasn't like I discussed it. Everybody saw it. Also, I never once told ANYBODY that I am lesbian and that me and my friend are lesbian lovers. Because It's not true! When I went to my supervisor, she acted like it was no big deal.

So, it is common fact that this chick spreads gossip and lies about people, but nothing is done about it. Hopefully the HR rep will call me back soon. In the meantime, I am stuck not being able to work (without pay) until I hear from my supervisor.
I just don't think it was fair that i was sent home. I wasn't written up, I was never formally warned about anything. Something smells bogus about this, and I am thinking of talking to a lawyer.
Thanks for letting me vent.

.
Do what i did dont be nice!. Theres is too many people out there that see being nice as a sign of weekness. Thats most likely why they pick on you cause they know nothing will come of it. I went through the same crap when i started my new job spoke to like crap always being told that im getting fire now im blunt and forward with them - and i get on better than ever with them.

Join a union movement! Love them or hate them, they will at least defend a workers rights!

PS. Also, if they have not documented past "warnings" or employment breaches then you have good grounds for unfair dismissal. I am a manager myself and during my business training I was always told "document everything". Apart from that........ smile!

In future try doing your work on a table. Maybe the managers think somebody might trip over you while you are doing your homework on the floor.
