Default NeroVision Express 2

I have a question.

I bought a DVD burner yesterday, it's installed (internal) no problem and since yesterday evening i'm burning videos and a concert of Robbie on the same DVD.

I saw it would take a long time, it said 12 hours. But since this morning it stopped, well it's still working , i think it's maybe the transcodage (don't know the english word), but something like 12 hours to transcode a concert i think it's a bit long !! it's not burning at all but says it's working apparently ....

What do you think ?

I looked for the transfert mode and all is on DMA)

It's possible that it would take 12 hours to encode a concert. But it won't burn anything untill it's encoded, so if you think the computer is hanging up, just eject the disk, reboot and try again. Most likely you've had a video file that was somehow faulty and it messed up the encoding process.

Yeah, I haven't burnt many videos but when it comes to encoding large video files they can take a real long time. It seems to take longer to encode them than it does to burn them. However 12 hours does seem a long time. Most of my videos usually encode at 1x speed, so a two hour concert will of course take two hours. My DVD writer will burn at 4x speed so it may take 30 mins to write to a DVD. Not sure what to suggest really. Maybe you could look for some other DVD encoding/file format conversion software.

Does anyone know how to change or choose another "next page" button for the menus thru NeroVision? It's like the green arrow is all there is...which I find to be stupid.

What are you transcoding? An MPG? 30 hours is way too excessive. I was able to transcode a 2 hours mpg in about 7 hours...including building animated menus which adds to the time...on my old PIII 933 Mhz with 256 RAM.

About 10 videos in .mpg, it took a few hours but for the concert it's .avi

Do you think i should try a program to transcode it before trying burning again ?

With something like AVIDVD2 i can change all in DIVX can't i ? But after i don't know if my nero does the DIVX .... No i think i just have to try again like Ice said yesterday before trying anything else.

Now i can eject the disc, yesterday evening it was not possible !!

I'l try to do the same again later.

When you're working with DivX's or VidX's, you're better off using another program to encode the video files. I don't use Nero for any sort of encoding, it's slow and the result is in bad quality. Try TMPGEnc for example.

I would also recommend TMPGEnc, either the normal one or the Express one, each has a nice simple wizard for converting files, and if you are making DVD's it is surely best to encode to DVD compliant MPEG-2 fori importing to Nero (or use TMPGEncs own DVD Authoring program)

Precisely why I don't even bother now. After taking too long to transcode and then resulting in a ****ed up DVD that would either be out of sync or just "freeze" (but audio still going)....I just put it aside. There hasn't been a real need to burn anything to DVD since I can just extend my desktop to my TV and go full screen. The only DVD's I've burned since were ready to be burned...no transcoding.

I did look over TMPGEnc...I may give it anothing look. I'd like more overall control over the menu creation.
