TMPGEnc DVD Author has a poor choice of menus. It is a good encoding tool though - far better than Nero. Canopus Pro Coder is even better though more costly. For an excellent encoder and good menu selection (almost unlimited) try Ulead DVD Workshop 2 - it is easy to use and works great. It's not cheap though.

Ok, what i'll do is trying with Avi2Dvd first (i think it is ...) because that's what i have on my pc.
If it doesn't work then i'll try TMPGEnc ....
If it's free and if i can use it's own burning program, then that could be perfect !

Bleeding, my poor old pc is only 20Go .... that's why i need to burn things. It was either buying a DVD burner or a HD ... price is not the same :s And i don't want to lose all my interviews and shows with Robbie But this poor old pc can't take anymore

Thanks again, i'll let you know.

For the moment i tried the same thing with Nero and after 3 hours nothing happened.

PS : i thought i'd make VCD but my DVD player can't read them

I tried everything and it seems i can't burn or encode the two concerts which are .avi :s

I don't know why, it's strange, i've got other files in .avi and there is apparently no problems with these ones. So i removed them Gone
Hope i'll find them later when i'm used to all this ....

I needed space on my pc, even for burning it was a problem.

So now i'm trying again with Nero.
The DVD will be full (21 files : videos and interviews)
It's saying 27 hours ....... !!! but for the moment it's ok it's burning !

There must be a problem with the files, perhaps you are missing a codec or something, no files should take so long to transcode, even with a slow machine.

Just an FYI...it's not actually burning. It's just transcoding...preparing the video to be burned to the disc. The burning is done after it finishes transcoding and only takes a few minutes.

Since you apparently have minimal system resources...I hate to tell you..but there is a very good chance that the end result will be screwed up..so don't be deleting any source files unless you're sure the copy is perfect. You should be thinking on a faster system if you plan to transcode DVDs. In the meantime...since you only have 20 gigs on your Hard Drive (which has nothing to do with the system speed/performance) you can still use it to burn data to the DVDs to make space on your Hard Drive, since burning data doesn't involve transcoding. Then when you do get an updated system you can go back and burn the DVD's the way you want to.

You're right, it failed at the end saying there was a problem encoding files ....

I'm sorry but i don't understand ....

What do you mean by burning data to the dvd's ?

It seems a good idea, exactly what i need but i don't understand what it means

It means you aren't actually burning a DVD video. You're burning a DVD the way you burn a CD Rom with Data. You just have much more storage capacity on a DVD-R.

With Nero...I'm assuming you are using Smartstart...the user-friendly interface. Starting from there...select DATA>>Make Data DVD. Then just select the files you want to copy to the disk.
