Default Newcastle ROCKS!

Over the weekend i went up to Newcastle....the CRAZY land of geordies.
I met fellow user of the board 'Bon Geordie' (Another Kev )

Friday
Up at 6.30am, Left Liverpool at 8.22am...

We found the nearest pub to newcastle central train station, and started on the pints while we had lunch...

then it was off to see the famous Tyne Bridge, smaller that what i had expected, then a "short" (ahem) walk along the Tyne to the new Millenium Bridge, which actually seemed a little bigger that what it had looked like on television and the pics that I had seen on the internet.

MILLENIUM BRIDGE

Once we had walked over the bridge and gotton to the other side, Kev said he would take us to Gateshead Stadium, whiere Bon Jovi have played a number of times - on the These Days Tour and Crush Tour (i think). About 45 minutes later, walking uphil, it finally appears in the distance! Smaller that what I had expected, but it looked a great place to host a BJ show, despite the lack of seats, it can still hold around 30,000, so next time the band play there...you best ya a$$ I will be attending!

GATESHEAD STADIUM

Then it was tome for us to get the Metro over to St James Park, which I have always wanted to see..and oh my god, what a HUGE stadium. I wanted to see inside, but they dont do staduim tours, nor do they have any gaps into the stadium, in which I could have peered through to see the pitch ...we did go up in the lift to the NUFC cafe though, which i guess is the closest im gonna get to a match this season..lol.

ST JAMES PARK

Next up was Bar Oz. WE have a bar in liverpool called the walkabout which is an australian bar, so kev thought he would take me and gordon (his other mate from newcastle, who i met in Glasgow when BJ played in June) to their version of a australian bar, which is quite kool, even though we couldnt manage a game of pool!

Then it was time to visit Kevs 'Local' (cough cough six miles away). I think Kev calls it his local, because it is his fave and where he hosts a quiz on a monday and wednesday(??) night for the locals in Wallsend. He is a very famous guy there and everyone seems to know him and talk to him, which i thought was great. A lovely little pub, with toilots which I must have tested about 8 times at least!

Backpack still in hand, it was time to drop things off at the house and get changed for the party to really begin!. So kevs mam and dad picked us up and took us, he showed me round his own flat which he has had for around two years which he has decorated himself, and looks AMAZING and very stylish. As soon as were ready, taxi was ordered and it was back down to the local for a quick one or two pints and then it was off to the town.

We went to a few bars down Gesmond street, one massive stretch of what can only be described as Large houses converted into bars. Very kool! Gordon somehow went to visit the little boys room in a hotel...when getting towards quite drunk, 15 minutes he stil wasnt back, so we went looking for him, only to find out he was in a loft of this hotel, and was too scared to come back down tha ladder, so he somehow managed to crawl his way along, and come out the door of a hotel halfway along the block!

The moment had then arrived to go to the famous 'Tuxedo Royalle' a.k.a. "The Boat" nightclub. Which is an actual boat, ON the River Tyne itself £4 to get in, which had around 5/6 maybe, different rooms, with different types of music and different DJ's. This was one of the best nightclubs i have ever been to in my life...some rather fit girls dressed in police womens clothes with their t1ts hangin out...drunkenly my mate gordon grabbed one of their truntions and shoved it down his pants, they told the real police and the police came onto the boat and searched us all.

THE BOAT

The club even has a REVOLVING dancefloor, which goes round and round, and when you think its funny watching people try and get on and off it, when you try it yourself, when pissed, its really not that easy...especially when you are trying to impress the ladies!

Speaking to Richiew2001 earlier he said
"the boat is ****in quality!"

After the boat, we all went to get kebab/pizza...we you do after a big night out and got a taxi back to kevs, where i wasnt feeling to good and had to go outside to be sick (sorry guys) once or twice.

Saturday
woke up around lunchtime-ish and got ready to go back out, that hungover, i cant remember what we did straight away, but i remember going for the bus to go and see the coast in TyneMouth

THE PIER

We walked along the mile long pier watching the tide come in and finding it funny as the waves came right up to the top of the pier. As the tide seemed to calm down, we decided that we should go to the pub for some lunch and a few beers. Just as we walked away, a MASSIVE tidal-like-wave came crashing up the pier wall, i somehow managed to run the right way, but kev went the other way, looked up and the ducked as this ginormous wave absolutely soaked him to the bone and had to spend most of the afternoon in wet clothes!

The England match was up next, so we went to Kev's REAL local pub at the end of his road, had lots more beer and watched england cuccessfully qualify for the European Championships in Portugal next year...despite Beckham missing that awful penalty that would have won us the game.

Next stop was back to kevs, to change out of our england tops and back out onto the town, this time to newcastles rock bar called Trillions. A smaller version of Liverpool's The Krazy House, only with less of the gothic type folk. A great club which i really really enjoyed. We got Livin on a prayer played of course, which i guess was the highlight of the night, along with the "Geordie shandy" (Bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale mixed with a bottle of Smirnoff ice into a pint glass) Rather tasty too, only have too many and you will be guaranteed on your backside after only a few. I stciked with the normal pints and Snmirnoff Ice's. Lots more drunken anticts followed of course. Including pulling some Portuguese bird who couldnt speak a word of engish and then decided to tell me that her boyfriend was watching us (Which is true) Strange how she could all of a sudden speak english! I guess it must be the only phrase whe knew!

TRILLIONS

Sunday
mornings dont happen in newcastle i dont think, so in the afternoon we went to play pool in newcastle city centre in a proper pool hall, cant remember what the score was now, but it was pretty much even. No kev, im not being smug! Had a few more beers (Hair of the dog, do they say!?)

Got the train in newcastle at 3.05pm, said my goodbyes etc.
Four hour train ride back to liverpool, but was rather drunk, coz I had hit the cans of stella all the way home.

All in al, a AWESOME time was had by all. I really really, cant wait to go again, as long as I am still invited?!
'Liverpool - The Rerun' is due to follow next month!

NEWCASTLE ROCKS!
