Yeah, if we didn't have so many word changes in America, things would be a whole lot easier.

Let me tell you, we still use the term French fry. That was the media's attempt to create something out of nothing. Not once have I been to a restaurant and saw the word "freedom fry." :P
There was this editorial cartoon in the newspaper about this. It was of a man saying "Give me Freedom Fries or give me Death!" I cut it out and still have it somewhere.

I live very near NYC and I have NEVER seen or heard the term Freedom Fry - Thank God. The press made far more of it than any people I know.
I think it's people that create a language and an attempt to legislate the language is doomed to failure. If the French WANT to use a different word for e-mail or if it evolves into something else - fine. But to pass a law - it will never fly.

"Let me tell you, we still use the term French fry. That was the media's attempt to create something out of nothing. "

It wasn't the media anything. It was started by some dumbass "patriot" who owned a diner in North Carolina. Then a couple of Congressional windbags did it in the Capital Building cafeteria.
