What do regular people think about all this, Arash?

An Iranian policeman and a regular Iranian man are discussing in the streets of Teheran:

Policeman : What do you think of the current political situation of our country?

Iranian man : The same as you do.

Policeman : Then you're under arrest.

Can't any of these leaders read history and realize that these tactics only work in the short run - not the long run. Eventually, not only will one class clown take anothers place but an entire army of clowns will take over. And the way things are going all of us would prefer the class clown to the guy in power.

You have my sympathy Arash (and I'm sure you'd rather have music than my sympathy). Perhaps a strong public opinion against such tyranny will help.

you know, it wasnt like we had quite lots of so called "western" music on tv or radio, so the thing itself doesnt bother me. but i think it's the start of a progress that will conclude totall ban of music. it was done before on the first years after the islamic revolution and through the war i remember as a child. but it got better through the years until it seems to be starting again.

the first effects of this matter will occur to bands in iran that make songs with English lyrics. i doubt from now on if the government would give permission for these bands to record an album or to play live. and so it will affect other musical acts too.

with the way that the president and the government have chosen, it will either end to a war, or iran will end up as a total Dictatorial-Religious regime who would keep all the people silent because of the fear and even kill them all just to stay on top (actually as it is now.)

by the way, thanx for those of you who care. and that was a nice one ponrauil.

Arash, no matter how hard I'd try, I just can't imagine how it must be living in a country with a regime like Iran's. I often think about it with stuff like ordering something online which will be in my house within a few weeks - knowing that you couldn't even get the box set into your house (if I remember it correctly). A total ban of music or on other things that are so common for me, sounds bad enough already. But having to live in silence, not being able to express your criticism or frustration or whatever, cause otherwise you're gonna get killed, sounds like pure hell to me.

I wish I could do more than just count my own blessings.

Yeah - a lot of things that we take for granted are not allowed elsewhere. Amazing, and sad.

I hope the government will eventually realise that they're not going anywhere through this and that this can only beget hatred and negativity.

Spain was a dictatorship not that long ago and many old people still count their blessings each day and think about the difference the transition made. Arash, I truly hope you will be able to do the same as soon as possible.
