Nudity Policy

Yeah, I'm lucky that I work at a place where they really don't care as long as your work isn't suffering. Now if someone was on line all day long (and they can and do monitor it), they could get fired. But the policy is fairly lax. The computer technition set up a link to bonjovi.com in my favorites. LOL I NEVER would have done that, so I was pretty shocked when I found he had.

In know that, so why should it now be allowed here, would be nice if they went to all those other sites for it and we could be respectful and civil without it.

No offense but I think that if you are adverse to such simple things as words and nature then you perhaps need some help

Obviously we could discuss these things forever, and no-ones views will change, but to me nudity and swearing aren't such a big deal. Swearing is just a bunch of words that, at some point, someone decided was bad, and today many people still think that. What if I make up a word, like Smolbol, and said it was a horrible word, would you think so?
And nudity is the simple beauty of the human form in all of it's shapes and sizes, everyone is naked sometime, do you feel disgusted when you are getting changed or in the shower?

Anyway, Peter has cleared up the policy so that is fine now.

I know what you mean but I guess people have to meet halfway.

u know full well darling it is the meaning behind the words and the context in what they are used that I find offensive. I dont find nudity offensive at all , I have a lovely body and I am certainly not offended by looking at it. I find pornagraphy offensive not nudity.. there is difference.

Certain words have been assigned certain meanings over time.

I'd assume many would think bastard was a "swear" word, but it actually means "A child born out of wedlock" (from dictionary.com). **** means "To have sexual intercourse with". Shit means "To defecate" and Cunt means "The female genital organs".

Lets use Thesaurus.com to find alternate words:

**** -> be intimate, breed, copulate, fool around, fornicate, go all the way, go to bed with, have sexual intercourse, have sexual relations, lay, make out, mate, procreate, screw, sleep together

Shit -> bits, crap, detritus, dregs, dross, fragments, garbage, junk, offal, pieces, refuse, remains, rubbish, rubble, ruins, trash, waste, wreck, wreckage

How many of those synonyms have been censored? None? Odd, they mean exactly the same thing.

this is not a swearing discussion but one on nudity , therefore swearing only opinions should really be in the swearing thread. As I have already siad in the swearing forum if you use these words in there actual meaning into a sentence as people to here, they dont make sense anymore and therefore are only being used in an offensive word.

I think it strange you are not commenting on my nudity comments.

Sorry, went off on a tangent there.

I think that pornography should be left to top shelves and pay per view websites and such, but nudity alone is not pornography. Someone posing nude can be artistic, erotic or pornographic depending on the pose and the manner of the photograph. If they are just nude in a beatiful landscape then that is artisitic. If they are posing inside somewhere and trying to look sexy then that is erotic. If the photographs focus specifically on genitalia then that is pornographic.

Obviously there are grey areas, but in general those ar the categories encountered. I don't think that any pornography should be posted on a forum such as this one, and perhaps erotic art only in certain situations, if the thread is clearly marked, but simple nudity is not offensive, some people just choose to believe that so they don't have to look at it. Of course it is their right not to have to see it, hence the linking idea here and the posting of warnings, but I just don't understand the logic of people who claim innocent nudity to be offensive.

Sigh - as usual I came in on this one late. I'm with Neil all the way on this one. I can't imagine simple nudity offending anyone. Even 14 year old kids have mirrors Why should their own body or a body of the opposite gender offend anyone? (Of course we can't all look like Pam )
Ditto for swearing. If certain words are used against someone here and are intended to be hurtful, that's wrong. But generic swearing is part of life (at least in New Jersey )
