Kids get sexually harrassed in all schools--even in elementary schools. Under federal laws, educational opporunities in the USA are to be as equal as possible and the fallacy of "separate but equal" was done away with decades ago.

Instead of justifying separate schools, the cases you told me about justify action against individual employees and schools.

Had a straight person come up with the idea of sending the gay kids to a separate school, civil rights activists would be up in arms for such discrimination.

It can't go both ways--either the group pursues equality or they don't and if they don't, they should go to a school that is privately funded.

I have nothing against gay kids having their own school. I take issue with it being paid for with state and federal tax dollars. That kind of separation based on a difference that is not affecting the gay kids anymore than the fat kids or black kids or Hispanic kids or the white kids who are minorities in their schools is discriminatory. Children can be universally cruel to anyone they percieve to be outside the norm. EVERY subgroup is harrassed and you can find instances of members of every subgroup being physically and emotionally abused.

i think the problem here is not that the people who give the go ahead on this actually agree with it but more that in this current society if one of them had to have some common sense and say what the vast majority of us are saying (which makes alot of sense and in my opinion is totally fair to say) they'd be branded homophobic.

I was wondering what people thought of this. Good or bad?
It is just a plan to get them all in one place so they can blow them all up.

Just kidding.

The cases I cited don't necessarily justify separate schools. I mentioned them so you'd perhaps understand why it might be necessary for this type of school to be offered for students. However, I also provided an argument--where I wrote about the establishment of magnet schools--which may justify separate schools.

Do you know the people who came up with the idea of creating a separate school for gay kids? How do you know that none of them are straight?

Not all civil rights activists agree with one another. I'm sure that while some might support this idea of making sure that safe spaces are created so that all students can receive an education, others--for various reasons--have differing opinions.
