That's what I thought before getting here. I changed my opinion when I realised how hard the people of Quebec had to fight for their culture and language throughout the years, especially in the last 30 years and still today. There are about 7 million french speaking Canadians "drowned" in some 300 million english Canadians and Americans that have a enormous cultural and economical influence that is very tough to resist.
Plus I can also tell you that what Conan said is not just humour, it's what a lot of english Canadians and Americans really think of Quebec and it's people. I've experienced it.
Finally I can also tell you that the people of Quebec have a great sense of humour and a good sense to make fun of themselves, just not on subjects that are really serious and vital to them, and that everyone should respect.
