I've never heard or seen Tom play or sing...but I'd be willing to bet my life on it that each and every member of HIM is a better musician than he is.
Well, don't bet your life because you may lose it in the process. I HAVE heard Tom play and it is amazing. I think you should refrain from such comments until you have heard the man do is thing.

at least HIM are willing to show their music. i haven't heard enough of either to comment but i'm taking a good guess that the Repete X stuff is better.

But I still maintain that the guys in HIM can't be THAT bad as musicians, since they've managed to record four albums and sell over a million copies of them altogether... And that can't be just because of clever marketing either, since Finnish music exports were still more or less marginal when HIM were starting off their "German invasion".

For the time being, Ville writes all the HIM songs and the band arranges them together. While I'm not necessarily always agreeing with his lyrical style, Ville has an amazing sense of melody, and he really is a talented song-writer. Burton is a classically trained pianist & keyboardist (hmm, how come that sounds somehow familiar?), Gas has been playing drums ever since he was a kid, and Mige (bassist) and Linde (guitarist) have also been playing their instruments more or less ever since they were kiddies. So there really should be no reason for anyone to doubt their talent or their abilities. They're good musicians and have a very professional attitude towards their music and their shows.

For what I´ve seen / heard, Tom actuaööy plays a lot better guitar than mige but I think one reason is that him songs arent that good guitarwise so haven´t heard mige do any good stuff with the stick. I Still think HIM rocked once and could rock still but for some reason they dont.

That might be because Mige plays the bass... Anyway, I think Tom is a decent guitarist, but nothing special. He's not that good, at least from what I've heard. As for me, I can't rate myself, but after playing for 18 years, I think I know something. As for being better or worse, it's all a matter of taste. Technique is a different thing and I don't think Anu should be judging a thing like that.

And as for HIM, they're all professionals, but it doesn't have to mean they are the best musicians. I've never heard Linde play anything spectacular, although I've heard that Ville is a hell of a bassist...
