Office Dieters are Annoying Me

The woman I share my office with (Mary Ann) is the world's biggest advocate of the Atkin's diet, even though she consistently calls it the Atkinson diet which is pretty annoying by itself--it ranks up there with wanTED. Now my boss (Jeanie) is going on it because she found out she's diabetic and needs to loose some weight. Pat and Rosalind, the transition coordinator and speech pathologist, have decided to go on it. Susan, my best friend in the office has a degree as a diatition and she is totally against the Atkins diet. When I saw the oncologist because it was supsected that I had a blood disorder or cancer, I was doing a low-carb diet and she told me in no uncertain terms that was dangerous for my weak immune system and to get off of it immediately. I heard another diatition on the radio yesterday blasting Atkins as medically unsound. Today Jeanie and Mary Ann were both in my office talking about it and Jeanie says to me, "In January, you ought to do this with us." I told her flat out "I'm NOT doing Atkins." I've told them before that I'm wary of it based on what the oncologist said to me and that my immune system is too fragile for it. I'd rather be a bigger size and healthier than really thin and so depleted that I continue to catch every virus that floats through.

I'm really annoyed that everyone is like, "Do this with us" to me and Susan when they know good and well how both of us feel about Atkins and why we feel that way. When I'm serious about loosing weight, I'll increase exercise and cut out some calories, some fat, and all sweets, but not limit my intake of fruits and vegetables to 20 or 40 carbs a day. It kind of pisses me off for them to try to pressure me to do something that's not medically sound for me just so I can be supportive of what they're doing if we're all at a restaurant or whatever.

Sorry... I just had to vent.

That sucks... Wouldn't you feel fat if they asked you to do that? I find it pretty screwed up and bet none of them are really overweight.

ive heard alot about the atikins diet, and i think u shoudl stick to yr guns...health is wealth, and there is no point in doing the thing due to others, and then ending up ina hospital bed for months. at the end of the day, if yr happy in yr heart and soul, it shouldnt matter wot u look like on the outside.

oh and wanTED is the best way to say it cos richie said so

Actually it started with the back up singer--I think Crystal is her first name and her last name starts with a T. It's HER fault... and therefore she should be locked in a room and forced to listen to wanTED, just that part, over and over again (or Paul McCartney's evil Christmas classic).

u think thats bad wait till they start smellign of dog food and spending ages in the toilet cos u have to force urself to do it ont he atkins diet.

LOL No wonder Mary Ann is such a witch. She's been doing Atkins for almost a year now. Maybe she's too stuffed up.

the whole idea behind the diet is pointless.

stop takign in carbohydrates so u dont have any energy and ur body starts eatiung away at ur fat and muscle to get it, but at the same time ur just clogging ur arteries with shite cos of all the crap u eat on it
