I believe that the point you're are making is that school, the government and therefore parents put much too much pressure on kids to get good grades. From the age of 11 kids are told that they must get good grades if they want to succeed in life. If they don't get good grades, they can't do A-levels. If they don't get good A-levels, they can't go to university. If they can't go to university, they are a failure. A failure, period. Because in their eyes, by not going to university, there is no path in life that could possibly make you, or your life a success. This is the mentality that is forced into kids from a rediculously early age, and is what IMO causes so many people to become so worried about exam results.

I have learned since my days in school, that not only are there other things in life that are much more important than exams, and coursework, and results, but there are also many other ways to make it in life. Other ways to get a good job, and other ways to live. It's much more important to do a job that you enjoy, rather than one which comes with 5 measly letters after your name. I am sorry for your friend, that she felt that she needed to do this because she believes that exams are so important. I hope she recovers fully and realises that her "failure" is nowhere near as significant as she has been made to believe.

Seems our education system isn't quite so rigid as yours then - or maybe our D grades r of a similar standard to your A's....

It all relies on points:

A=120
B=100
C=80
D=60
E=40

So I got 280 points, and my course requirement was 240. Some specify grades (ie) Including 1 B at !-Level, but this didn't.

The closest course my college offered in a design aspect was Product Design, which I have studied for 2 years. I also did Computing and MAths, which will help me out with Architecture.

It's not always there fault, sometimes it's a medical condition. One of my best friends has panic attacks whenever something stresses her out, and she cannot help them. Stress, in some people, is a medical condition.
