I'd say that's more proof that schools put way too much emphasis on exams. Even from an early age (6-7 year olds) are told to go home and learn things because they have a SATS assessment. It's ridiculous.
Same with SATS in Year 9, way too much emphasis is put on them.
So by the time people get to A levels, they've already sat heaps of previous public examinations, each time being told they're really important. If you have teachers shouting in your ear 24/7 that an exam is really important to your life, and then you don't get the grade you need, of course you're going to feel down.
The system needs to change.
