Fair point, but then I don't think they were booing bringing politics into it, more booing his view point, i.e what he was saying.

He was saying that Bush is wrong. I don't think there's much chance of anyone misintrepeting it. They booed because they didn't agree => they think Bush is right.
Right, that's what I said . I was saying, I don't think they were booing the fact he was making a political speach, but they were booing his opinion..... There were also people clapping, which shows that some people think Bush is wrong!

I don't think you can condemn people for thinking Bush is right, you can only say that it's your opinion he's wrong, and therfore they should be free to air theirs if they choose to.

Don't get me wrong, I think Pacino was good, but it was imo more of a recognistion...... gosh, he hasn't got one yet, let's give him one. Same with the Berry thing in a way, but I still rated her performance (even if I didn't rate the film). That's why I think sometimes actors take them with a pintch of salt.... nice to win, great to win in fact, but at the end of the day, it's not going to make that much difference. The fact that Cage and Nickelson were sat next to each other shows that they weren't nessesarily competing against one another. I don't think there is too much bad feeling between actors who don't and do win, obviously there are excepctions.

I would have predicted Scoursesi for Best Director, Nickolson for best actor..... it didn't turn out this way. I still don't think it's so predictable...... I also don't think it'll ever be completely imparcial, when you think about who it is that's voting, you're always going to get trends, and biast opinions......

I still liked the Twin Towers, more so than the first to be honest, maybe I was just taken in by how spectacular those battle scenes were

but hell, sometime it's nice to just be impressed, turn of and see somethign spectacular!

Yeah, especially the scene that wasn't in the book at all... And after that they did Aragorn the same thing Gandalf went thru in the first flick => fall off a cliff, everyone thinks you're dead, come back and wonder what the fuss was about...

I think they took too many shortcuts with this one. Don't get me wrong, I liked the film, but it wasn't as good as it could've been.

Berry got the oscar as a first african american actress only because she doesn't look too much a-a, that is she looks like a white woman after solarium.

But she is a "vessel" for other black women. She needs to get a grip.

I haven't read the book Probably should do, I loved the Hobit..... still, maybe if you've read them the films more of a disapointment, I've found this with films in the past

Don't get rid of the Oscars,
get rid of people who can't act, direct or write

I wanted to get off of the war topic for awhile. Hence my Oscar post.

I don't care about it one way or another. It is a bit annoying though, how overpaid actors/actresses are these days. Plus, they get all these awards and nonsense.

I just turn it off though if I don't like what I see.

At least you get some of them who really do do it for reasons other than money.....

I saw Keneth Branah in Richard III in Shefield last year.
Joseph Fines, Shefield again
I think Ralph fines is doing something in theatre this year
Pete Poselthwate last year
Judy Dench does lodes of theatre work still
Kevin Spacey does a lot of theatre work
Gillian Anderson was over in a play this/last year
Gweneth Powtrol was in a play. e.t.c.

I only highlighted plays, because I know that an actor playing in the top theatre companies (Basically the National, this is the one I know for sure about) get paid very poorly. I may be wrong, but I think I read it was about £100 a week! (this may have been £200, but I have a feeling it wasn't). Plus, they all get paid the same.... from main actor, to gentleman who walks on for one scene! You're hollwood actors don't go onstage for money!!!!!!!!!

I know Pacino also did a film for nothing (Dick Tracey), and there was a film recently, that when it was low on funds, the leading actor said they don't have to pay him, with that money there were able to get the film out..... I don't think it's all about the money all the time, I do think a lot of actors consider themselves to be artists, and genuenly do go for roles they want to play, or scripts that inspire them...... of cource this isn't all of them, and sometimes you see an actor almost degrading himself with a flashy part, but there is still somethign more than just the money.....

Also, pay is relative..... When you think how profitable the film industry is they're not overpayed. Same as footballers, same as musicians for that matter. Think about how much money Bon Jovi make, should they get that? I think they should, because at the end of the day, they produced the music that sells, proportionally to how profitable that industry is, they don't make too much.

My complaint is that going to see a movie these days costs an arm and a leg. Hence the reason why the film industry is so profitable.

My other complaint is that going to see a concert these days costs your other arm and leg.

On the other hand, you can say don't go, but I still will.

exactly

it doesn't make sense with basic economics

cinemas first come out (new concept you'd think expensive) yet huge demand >>> very cheap tickets, people go to see films as often as you or i might watch them on TV...

now there's still a huge demand but they up the prices up

in central London the cinemas cost nearly twice (if not more) than they do just 1 hour away in oxford, or in manchester
