My first language is English, which I'm lucky to know because it's such a messed up language. I bet it's really hard to learn as a second language, but from reading everyone's posts here, it seems as everyone here has mastered it.

I also speak a little French. Understanding french has helped me understand English better.

I wouldn't consider myself knowledgable in this language, but I can read and pray in Hebrew, not that I know what I'm saying word for word.

Also, being an anime junkie, I've picked up a few random nouns in Japanese. But that isn't really enough to speak it.

I once knew how to count in Polish, but I forgot. That was a really long time ago.

I grew up hearing Italian, but I am in no way fluent. I wish that I had let my grandma teach me like she wanted to. But being a stubborn child, I wouldn't let her. I took two years of Italian in college, and I can understand a little but I could never go to Italy and have a conversation.

I speak English and Dutch, fluently. I can get by with German, I know a few things in French and I also learnt Russian for 3 years. I love learning other languages and I hope to speak Russian a bit more fluently.

Finnish is of course my mother tongue. I speak fluent English, and intermediate German, Swedish and Italian.

(I've also studied or otherwise learned some Latin, Greek, Russian, Swahili, Japanese, Gaelic at some point or another, but I can only say a few phrases in them. So they don't count at all.)

well, I can get by in France and I studied Latin for long enough... that really wasn't too useful except for playing trivial pursuits and trying to work out words from their roots. The French seem to enjoy correcting your grammar as you go along and speaking as fast as they can at you while the Italians always seem really happy that you've attempted a few words here and there... Though maybe judging all of France by Paris and the far south isn’t doing every French person justice.
