PC Problems again , any advice welcome please

My daughter is having problems again and I wondered if you would be able to advise us please .

Her laptop is now suddenly missing the content.ie5 folder therefore she is unable to now download anything. There is no viruses or spyware and she has tried right clicking and going to save target as but this doesnt work either. She has tried reinstalling internet explorer , didnt work,she moved the temporary files folder to its proper place in local settings, but it still didnt regenrate the content.ie5 folder. So how does she get or create a new one ?

This seems to have happened to lots of other people with no explanation of why or solution, can you help ?

Try tools, internet options, security, hit "default".

Have you UNinstalled before reinstalling?

What version do you use? Try the latest.

What exactly happens when trying "Save target as..."?

I would stop using that horrible program. Get Mozilla Firefox instead!

Although I'd like to say "get Firefox" as well, try running Scandisk in safe mode and see if it finds any problems.

she cant find out how to restart XP in safe mode can you explain please ?

restart the computer and keep pressing the F8 button, it will show u the options, there u can chose the safe mode.

she has tried this and all the options she gets is select first boot device and a choice between 3 IDE -0 CD/DVD-O BBS-0

The first 2 just starts her laptop as normal and the 3rd just gets stuck on the user screen.

Save target as this happens : I right click the torrent file go to save target as , I choose a folder to save it in , press save , then it downloads the torrent file fine and completes and when I open the torrent file it gives an error message, saying windows cannot find the torrent file I just downloaded. Then the choose file to save as or pick a partial download to resume box pops up , so then I press save , bit torrent then opens attempts to connect but cant connect .

Re firefox ... I attempt to open the torrent file it asks what should firefox do with this file , open with bit torrent and press ok, then bit torrent windows starts up and opens and says error problem getting response info. errno2 no such file directory.

Any further advice would be appreciated.

Sounds more like a hard disk problem or general Windows problem than IE-related.

If you can't get to safe-mode, try running scan disk in normal mode.

Try to select the first option and then immeditatly keep pressing the F8.
